Themes Pack  Bottom

  • I had just downloaded Themes Pack (PHP5_ML_Themes_3_PN.zip). Can anyone tell me how to install it to my postnuke?
  • I just upload all the themes folder to themes folder under /html/themes.

But I notice when I change to certain themes I have different fatal errors or the message for Admin is cut off just showing News. Do I" have to so something configure to get all the themes working? Do I have to change the configurations every time I change a themes?

And 1 themes I like alot is PHP-Report-Blue but I notice some of the texts are not in english. And my Admin message was gone? It only show those news that had been summited. Is there a way to change the text to english?
  • The theme packs contain a mixture of current and old broken themes, some seems OK with quirks (search box doesn't work as it can't find 'search.php' or the Aadmin message appear), others have critical SQL errors etc. They are in need of updating to the curren theme system. Postnuke is still in Alpha and still evolving.

The language would be set in the 'lang' subfolder under the theme. There folders with language codes appear, usually only 'eng' for English, but might as well have 'fra' for French or 'deu' for German. If it doesn't have an 'eng' folder, create one and copy the global.php file from the language that is there, and you'd have to edit all the DEFINE statements defining the variables for the text, with English. Usually the variables are Englich so you can see what they should be, eg '_POSTEDBY' is set to 'Posted By' in English.

Ways to recover from an old theme:

    Postnuke Swiss Army Knife

    * Go to your themes folder.
    * Rename the folder 'VBlue' to something like 'VBlue_dead'
    * Copy the folder of a theme that you know works correctly - preferably a postnuke default theme like PostNukeBlue.
    * Paste that copy in the themes folder and rename the folder 'RecoveryTheme'.
    * Copy the 'RecoveryTheme' folder, and again paste that folder in the themes folder.
    * Rename 'copy of RecoveryTheme' to 'VBlue'.
    * Test the site to see if it works
    * If everything's fine, go back and delete the folder 'VBlue_dead'.
    * Leave the 'RecoveryTheme' folder for the next time you need to make a recovery

Or test the theme first by entering

    www.yoursite.com/index.php?theme=yourtheme

This is only a temporary change until you click somewhere else or refresh the page

  • I like this one as well. I went to the theme.php and altered the German to it's English eqivalent. Is there a way to get the Admin Messages to appear, though? I really like this theme, except for that one little niggling difficulty. Nothing in the center block will show up, actually. Anyone?
  • Yeah, there's a way to update it. I have no links handy, so do a search of the forums. The problem is in the themesidebox function.

I've refurbished it, but I want to tweak it a little first. Maybe I'll upload it tomorrow.

This thread outlines adding centre blocks to a theme that doesn't support them.
