Couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. Even did multiple clean installs thinking I may have been cursed by corrupt downloads, etc.
Well folks the answer is... permissions for the index.php file. Once I fixed that, everything was kosher.
I tried to post this info at the books support site (on Yahoo Groups) but got tired of waiting for Yahoo to send me my info to login. What the hey, they should be posting at this site...shouldn't they?

Slugger, I had the same issue and the same solution. It was in fact index.php permissions.
There are several people with the same (or similar) problem at Yahoo! groups so I will post the solution there since you don't have your password.
Cheers
