my boring old site  Bottom

  • Hi

    www.xsp-strategy.com

I know, boring, hence the post. I'm new to PostNuke, so suggestions on functionality and presentation that I'm not aware of appreciated.

    THanks

    Neil.
  • About presentation
Taking a theme and modifying it heavily can give quick results. I looked at themes made for newest PN versions. The V-Autumn theme by vipixel.com team had the colours near my preference.
While the theme was using much fancy graphics, I did not need those. Most work was needed with the header.html file, while other template files and CSS required only small modifications. Basically it was really easy (some editing could be done even with Dreamweaver), but required some work.
The vipixel original: http://www.vipixel.c….php?theme=V-Autumn and my modified version http://www.ee-place.com/

So, you should first have some kind of vision, how your site should look, including the colours. Then see if there is some theme, that can fulfill your vision partly. Use that theme as a basis for editing.

    About functionality
Because the forums links to newest forum topics for a long time. Using centerblocks (I used a cscenterblock wrapping two blocks) is good for showing changing information. I have learned to avoid too many sideblocks. People tend to use only the upmost blocks.
