I decided to make a lot of new function for user releated modules. User modules are completely rewriting.
So if you have some delicious idea, please share with me here, or directly post them to class007@sina.com
Thank you.
yours,
Xiaoyu -

oen thing: i'd like members list to be more modifyable. like what to show in the list, in which order, the possibility to sort by any of them, make it better looking. :)))
anyway otherwise i guess many new things will come when the dynamic-user-data-thing is implemented and so. :) -

I have several sites with different types of user bases: a personal (family-related) site, a couple of alumni sites, and a site for my Homeowners' Association (in progress). The user data/Members List function is really the last holdout for making my sites truly useful. When a new version comes out, here is what I would like to see happen to DUD:
1) more options for creating DUD fields
* more field types -- like checkbox/dropdown list
* add "Field Description"
* specify if field is REQUIRED vs. OPTIONAL
* automatically assign "weight" in the list when first created
2) Administrative capabilities to select/order/sort which of the core and DUD fields to show in the Members List. (e.g.: show first name & phone number, hide last name & street address)
3) Administrative capabilities to select which of the core and DUD fields to show/hide in the individual member profiles.
4) Ability to search through Member List on any field (any specific and/or globally).
5) Add a "privacy checkbox" for each field (core and dynamic), so a registered/registering user can select which of the personal information is visible to other users. (For example, street address and phone number may be req'd for signup, but you want to give the user the option to hide that data to others.) This "privacy" flag would control display status in #2, 3, and 4 above for all regular users. Administrators would see all data, regardless of "privacy" flag.
6) Administrative capability to set "default" per-field privacy checkbox status for each field for new users.
7) Administrative capability to select which core and dynamic fields MUST be filled out by new registrants -- and have these fields show up in the new user reg. screen. (e.g., require phone number for new users)
8) Ability to create user fields that are Administrator-editable only. For example, if you were tracking whether or not dues had been paid or the date that a membership is going to expire. You want users to be able to view this data in their profile, but you don't want them to be able to change it. Also, have a simple Administrative screen that can be used to change/update these fields quickly.
9) Nice to have, but not necessary: Administrative ability to create a "filter" that checks entered data for validity. (e.g., if one DUD field was ZIP code, you would want to make sure that it was entered in the format ##### or #####-####)
If there is some other place I should submit these ideas, please let me know. -

Are there any updates on the features that njwilkes suggested? Or are any of these a .8 possibility?
Here is what I'm trying to do (if anyone else has a suggestion on how to do this besides what is asked above). I have an organization of about 1200 members. Only 65 have registered on the website so far. I would still like some data available for the registered members to search, sorting the list by graduation year, last name and outputting either phone or email info to just the registered users.
I would like to use this table/db as a place where I can keep a centralized list of data, and export this for mailings for the 1200+ people.
Any ideas? Content Express and new tables are my best bet? -
