Aesthetics: a PostNuke reflection

These boards are packed with code that modifies the original PostNuke package. I would argue that such modifications are the result of individuals taste when it comes to setting up the look and functionality of their site. Do you believe that aesthetics drives what theme you choose, module you add, and code you tweak? I would love to discuss this idea with any who would like to take a break from their Nuke site and just reflect. This post is driven by an argument that I had today with my boss about, why http://www.vivachico.com displays the 5 newest news articles on the home page and not just a menu of icons linking to the articles. I believe that the articles add a dynamic to the site. They freshen the daily look of the homage and relate that "users" are central to the sites goal.
