Let say I have following structure of categories:
-Global
--Sport
---soccer
---baseball
--music
is there a way to show/submit news article in soccer and baseball subcats?
dropdown shows only Sport and Music
same thing with categorylist page...
if this works for News 1.3 can it be ported back to 2.6..x?
News 2.6.2 Zikula 1.2.8 can not use zikula 1.3 becouse host does not support needed PHP version
p.s.
parameters for exmle for soccer:
Category is locked---unchecked
Category is a leaf node--unchecked
Value---empty
Sort value--0
Active ---1
Same for parent

Can this be done by enable attributes for category and tie there Second category for News?
For example I have Global(with Sport) and its subcats for Main cat
and Subsports as Second Category for News -

Actually quite simple.
- Global
- - Sports
- - Music
- News Publisher
- - Sports topics or Type (not needed it's only for tidiness)
- - - Baseball
- - - Football
- - Music topics or Type (not needed it's only for tidiness)
- - - Rock
- - - Pop
In Category registry:
News news Main /__SYSTEM__/Modules/Global
News news Topics /__SYSTEM__/Modules/News (Topics is only an Example, it can be Type etc)
In News you enable Categories, and you will have to Category Select fields.

and not tree like

wow..it worked :) ..I was mising one top level cat for tidiness ....and did not use "module/News Publisher" but different --created " Global/Sometopics" ....

So you have it working now? You can do a lot with categories by specifying them in the registry and thinking indeed in that way.
