Is Zikula v.1.3.0 ready for production sites?  Bottom

  • I was wondering if it is it ready for migrating sites from v. 1.2.x to 1.3.0? These are all live working sites and it looks like you have all the modules that I need to use for these sites.

  • Then it should be.. 1.3.0 was released in "Final" form, we're on to work on 1.3.1. As always backup and test first.

  • Thanks. I'll start migrating my sites. I have several of them to do.

BTW ... I posted this on another thread, but, does the "Notify me when a reply is posted" option working? I changed my email address thinking that maybe it was my original email and spam settings, but I don't get any notices of responses at all, even with the new email address.. -- Marc
  • "Notify" works for me.
  • Ah! I just got a notice about your post. Now it works for me.

  • I just tried to migrate one of my sites to v.1.3.0 but realized my host is not using the latest version of PHP so installing Zikula1.3.0 at this time is a no go. I'll ask to see if they can update.

In the meantime, I notice that there is no "System Requirements" page for either v.1.2.8 or v.1.3.0 on the site. It may be a good idea to provide this information for people interested in trying out/using either version. Always nice to know which version of Apache, PHP and MySQL is used for each version before downloading. If the information is on the site, then it is not obvious enough for people to notice.

  • There are plenty hosts who offer 5.3.x and many who don't advertise it actually have it on their newer servers as an option. Just ask support.

  • Thanks I have put the question to the IT and in fact one of the other servers that I am on does have 5.3. I will most likely be migrated to this newer server.

About posting the server requirements on the Zikula pages (as I mentioned in the previous post), would it be possible to post this in a logical location in documentation or even on the Zikula website so that it is more visible?

    Marc
  • you can add it to the 'try ZIkula 1.3.0' page (its a Wiki)

    http://community.zikula.org/index.php?module=Wiki&tag=TryZikula13
  • Even better yet, if someone familiar with 1.3.0 could put it on that page. I am not familiar enough with the system requirements, which is the reason I found out with my test site that I could not install it. A list of these on the Wiki would help people out who are interested in trying it out.

Same thing for v.1.2.8. People need that information rather than being disappointed with test-trying and having it failed due to this missing information.

  • Hello,

Same question than the first one.
Can I use Zikula 1.3.1 or 1.3.2 for production website ?

Actually in 1.2.7 (i know, it must be upgraded to 1.2.8)
  • If the supported modules fit your needs or if you can code your own modules, i don't see why you can't use Zikula 1.3.1 or 1.3.2 for a production website!
  • 132 is not released publicly, so I would caution against that for the moment.
