hello-
I'm looking for some testers for my revised Downloads module. This module is very basic, but intended to allow current Downloads users the ability to upgrade to Zikula 1.3.0 when it becomes available.
https://github.com/craigh/Downloads
I am especially interested in your feedback. I do not intend to be adding a bunch of features since the module will someday be superseded by EMR (not to be confused with the EMH for all you Voyager fans out there), but you are welcome to *ask* and I"ll see what I can do while keeping it simple.
I really want you to test upgrades since most users will not be new installs.
Of course, this is 1.3 only. ;)

Unfortunately, this isn't one of your projects I can harrass you about, never used Downloads, well haven't since the PostNuke days at least. :D

Great! I use download in my site. Actually i am working with zikula 1.2.7. So, how can i upgrade the information of download in a 1.3 refresh install?
If it is not possible, i can test with a new installation of zk1.3 y downloads.
Thanks. -

I test the upgrade by starting with a clean filesystem - changing the DB credentials in config.php for the old DB. I put in my 1.3-compatible modules right away and then run upgrade.php. It will upgrade anything it can (including Downloads) along with all the core stuff. -

I've just recently added a bunch of improvements to this module including fixing the item above and making the user interface more like the old one (but not exactly
) Please re-pull and test again if you can - especially testing the upgrades!

This is great, glad to hear Downloads will live on. I'll test.
I use Downloads on several 1.2x sites and have always had a problem where I could not grant permissions to an editor to upload AND approve their own downloads. No matter what permissions a user has (short of admin) I still have to release the new download form the approval queue.
So I'm hoping your new version will have better permission levels.

nope. sorry to say it does not.
in this version, there is LESS functionality than in previous versions. It is simply a 'stopgap' release to tide you over until EMR.
there is no functionality in this release for non-admin additions/editing. I'm sorry. -

Oh well, thanks for providing a path to 1.3x anyway. Hopefully Clip will be able to do a lot of what I've used Downloads for in the past.
