  • Hi, first at all thanks for the effort. I did an upgrade from 1.2.3 to 1.3 yesterday and works so fine, same from pagemaster 0.4.0 to Clip and woks well. I used the last versions in SVN. Many new usefull functions. I'm happy.

For me this is just what I need to make a sucessfull site, but still I´m trying to upgrade my templates to Clip new syntax, and maybe this result a big work (anyway this doesn't matter for me, I took it like a new course).

Thumbnails works OK, using the last version in SVN.

I just want to ask some workaround for scribite module do their job. I tried using the last versions in SVN but It doesn't.

    Thanks for any help
  • Scribite has a 1.3 version you can get a development snapshot at http://github.com/zikula-modules/Scribite

  • And I trust you mean Git not SVN, since the development of most, if not all of the things you mention is being managed in Git at GitHub, not SVN @ Cozi

  • Yes, I am a bit disappointed about the version number too. Postnuke and Zikula have always been very conservative about new version numbers.

But I am very happy about a lot of cool stuff in Zikula 1.3. Most of all I love the process of development in conjuction with Modulestudio. I just finished a customer's project together with Axel and it worked like a charm. We were able to use a very professional rapid development process with several feedback cycles: After a first working example I started working on the templates while Axel refined the model and then sent me the new module. I simple had to reinstall the module and continue working on the templates.

Steffen that is really impressive the client must be very happy. It's a really clean and clever way to present the models. The nicest thing I can think to say is that this looks nothing like a Postnuka/Zikula site!

So in the end what modules were used? It looks like just your custom module, extmenu, Formicula, and scribite. Is it Zikula 1.3? Axel are you available?

I've been hoping that as the version stabilized and Modulestudio became mature that there would be Modulestudio pros available to whip up custom modules for a fee.

For those who have the knowhow to use both, is Modulestudio more capable than a (assuming completed) Pagemaster?

  • The site constists of Zikula 1.3, the custom module, Pages, Formicula, Scribite. I use the extMenu a lot: The main navigation, the three buttons on the frontpage and the two lists on the reference pages are all extmenus. Advantage: The customer only has to learn one module to adjust a number of features. The same applies to the use of Pages: It's included in both contact forms and it is used for the impress and all references...

    Axel should be available: guite.de / modulestudio.de

Modulestudio and Clip (Pagemaster) are two different paradigms in doing the same. At least at the moment. Look up "Model Driven Software Development" - that is what Modulestudio does. Clip is a very easy module to set up simple tables and create CRUD functions. That is sufficient in many case. I was an obsessive user of Pagesetter - Clips predecessor. I run some sites with Pagesetter and I am still very satisfied with it. But it also an additional layer of abstraction and if you don't need to have serveral publication types I guess you are better off with a module of you own.
