Clip Happy Halloween  Bottom

  • If there's sometime to play with Clip this sunday -or in the next few days-, grab the latest source of Clip and try an upgrade from your PageMaster 0.4.x tables (only for Zikula 1.3 installations, Clip development installations are also supported with this upgrade).

It already considers the update of many things like Category Registries, Workflows, System default module, and updates its internals too. The Publication plugin is deprecated now and it's migrated to a many-to-one relation in the upgrade script.

Category based plugins has now the option to enable/disable the edit link on their config settings, and only Text needs to be able to select a scribite! editor. There's a new plugin: "Radio list".

Play with Clip, have Fun and comment your impression please icon_wink
    Regards

  • Purely by habit, I installed Thumbnail and Scribite first, then tried installing Clip -- if I check the boxes for Thumbnail and Scribite during Clip installation, I get errors that tables already exist and cannot install Clip at all. If I don't check them, I get the WSoD. See: http://code.zikula.org/clip/ticket/256 (this is still happening with Zk CI build 1994 and Clip build 185).

So I deleted the entire installation and started over. I uploaded Zk and installed it with no problems. Then I uploaded Clip, Thumbnail and Scribite. This time, I didn't install Thumbnail and Scribite first, I went straight to Clip and clicked the install button and got the WSoD. Looking at the database, I noticed that Clip did create the tables despite the WSoD. Ok, so now I removed Thumbnail and Scribite completely, removed the Clip DB tables and refreshed the Modules Manager. I tried installing Clip, it said that Thumbnail and Scribite were recommended but that they were not present. Fine. So I accepted and got the WSoD again.

So I guess I'm stuck at this point and can't perform any further testing. Also, since all of my 0.4.2 pubtypes use Thumbnail and Scribite, I really need them to be there and functional.

  • Still cannot do any testing. I get the WSoD no matter how I choose to install Clip, even with the latest builds (Zikula build 2002, Clip build 185). I even left out Thumbnail and Scribite for the sake of testing and still got the WSoD.

The error log provides this error:

    Code

[05-Nov-2010 17:33:15] PHP Fatal error:  Using $this when not in object context in /home/flaggers/public_html/modules/Clip/lib/Clip/Installer.php on line 145

  • Ok, so I used phpMyAdmin to manually change Clip's "state" to 3, which is installed. That seems to have worked, temporarily. I then create a pubtype, no problem, but then when I try to add fields, that page leaves the theme. Here's a screen shot: http://screencast.com/t/V4AT4IWWI

    Error log file reports:

    Code

[05-Nov-2010 17:40:11] PHP Fatal error:  class 'Clip_Form_Plugin_Pub' not found in /home/flaggers/public_html/modules/Clip/lib/Clip/Util.php on line 470

  • Any ideas when this will be fixed? I haven't been able to test Clip for months.
  • Is Mateo moving again? icon_wink

  • Will we ever get to test? Not asking for a miracle, but some sort of status report (or any response, for that matter) is greatly appreciated.

  • I'm not going to say anything, but please imagine something obnoxious that I might have said.

But other than not being able to be installed at all, I haven't found any bugs.
  • Sorry guys
I made a travel that was WAY longer than expected...

@Wendell: I've just pushed the fix for the installer,
tricky static functions with "this inside of them...
I was sure I checked that...
I hope it solves the problem, because even when module dependencies have issues
the core seems to work fine installing modules with simple dependencies.
There's a known bug when a dependency has requirements not met.

@Darryl: Seems that DoctrineUtil is outdated on your installation.
I fixed it 2 weeks ago, but at this stage that 1.3 may need a reinstallation.

The good thing is that after this travel I have big projects over Clip for the incoming time.
    My apologies again!

  • Thanks, Mateo. I just wish someone would have given us a heads-up prior to the big gap. But I'm glad to see you are back.

  • I've been testing along the way and with today's changes I was able to install and test with no probs. I should mention there is a FATAL collision with the debug toolbar, so be sure to disable that... other wise, it is an awesome app (or will be)
  • Clip build 21
    Zikula 1.3.0-dev build 2112

after installation, loggin in --> modules type admin
