Formicula -- adapting form  Bottom

  • I am testing Formicula and modifying trying to adapt it to a new form. I have taken the forms included in the package and adapted it with only new titles and not modifying any of the code other than that. When I try out the form it will display the original values for the titles and not the new ones. I have emptied my Firefox cache, checked Smarty and emptied cached pages but still no updated to the new form.

Is there any way to get it to update properly? Am I missing something?

  • After taking an even closer look at the problem, I tried using the options in "Rendering Engine" module and did the "Delete the compiled templates" and "Delete cached pages". I then went to the "Themes Manager" module -> "Settings" and did the "Delete Compiled Templates", "Delete Cached Templates" and finally "Delete Combination Cache". I was then able to refresh into the new forms.

*** I have narrowed it down to the "Rendering Engine" -> "Delete compiled templates" *** Maybe a button should be put in the Formica menu to clear the compiled templates" to avoid having problems with this again.

I am not too sure if I had to go through all of these steps. I am assuming that there is probably a shorter way to clear the template caches and theme caches.

If some of you have tried to mod the forms in the Formicula module, did you have the same problem? If so, maybe a "Clear Caches" button could do the trick somewhere in the Formicula menu.

Module works really well. I think that, for people like me who are code illiterate, a larger form (similar to form 1 or 2) included in the package with more text fields and some "yes", "No" check boxes and a more expanded number of switches (like those offered to turn the "Show Telephone no.", "Show company" etc. ) would really help in making the module more useful.

    Cheers

  • See also ticket http://code.zikula.org/formicula/ticket/63 where I have uploaded a a more extensive example form with a lot of different fields and validation options. That might help in finding out some things.

  • Thanks. That is actually really helpful. Now to make it more user-friendly it would be great if there was a way to modify the "_userform.html" file inside the Formicula admin setup. There could also be more switches set up in the Formicula "Settings" where you could turn off/on some of the template fields that you put in your expanded template.

Even still, this is a great template to add to the module.

    Thanks again.

  • I was going to make some suggestions on Cozi but it looks like there are quite a few open bugs and a new version with a note that says that there were a lot of fixes in the new upcoming version. Maybe I'll wait for Zikula 1.3.0 and try it out then and make suggestions after this.

  • The http://code.zikula.org/formicula/ticket/63 link seems broken. Does this example exist somewhere?
