scribite not loading  Bottom

  • This feels like a noob question but I've done everything I would normally recommend someone else do and still nothing..

    Running:

    Zikula 1.2.3
    Pagesetter 6.3.0.0
    PostCalendar 6.1.0
    Pages 2.3
    scribite 4.1

Scribite was working perfectly before when the site was 1.1.0 and I upgraded last week. After upgrade to 1.2.3, scribite stopped loading. I assumed it was because 3.2 wasn't compatible on 1.2.3 so I upgraded scribite to 4.1. After upgrade, I still can't get the editor to load in Pagesetter, PostCalendar or Pages.

The odd thing is that in Pagesetter, the editor won't even show as loading, but the source shows it is loading up. In Pages and PostCalendar, it shows the logo and says "Loading in progress. Please wait! Register plugin" but the editor does not load.

    I have tried several things:

    - Reinstalling scribite, no dice.
    - Deleting compiled templates, no dice.
    - Obvious, but yes, the scribite plugin call is in the template.
    - Going to scribite settings and clicking save configuration to regenerate with returned message: (Done! Module configuration updated.)
    - Renamed 1.htaccess to .htaccess in /modules/scribite/pnincludes, no dice.

Any help or advice appreciated! TIA

  • Was there not an issue with UPPER/lower case naming of certain plugin directories (Mediashare, MediaAttach, ...)? Did you try different editors?
  • custom template overrides? in theme or /config ?

have you tried it with a different theme?
  • Tried a different theme, no dice.
    Checked template/config overrides, none.
    I have no plugins enabled.

Oddly, when I switch to NiceEdit, nothing, though it attempts to load. When I switch to openwysiwyg, it loads half of the textareas available but not the rest.

This seems like a problem with the xinha editor then?

  • possibly scribite is misconfigured to use the wrong text areas?
  • Zikula 1.2 seems to have caching bugs (even if caching is disabled).

I had the same problem. Re-Installing the latest scribite version and deleting the renderer and theme cache (also manually) helped to get scribite working.

  • scribite is set for all, all on all configurations.

reinstalled scribite, cleared all file references and DB references, reinstalled, same issue. I even manually cleared caches.

    I'm truly stumped.

  • Did you clear the browser caches as well? I did have a scribite issue during testing of modules, but not sure what I did in the end. Removal of files and reinstall and browser clear IIRC.

  • Thanks guys for all the help. I'll give it another go and report back. Very frustrating...

  • So I installed a fresh copy of Zikula 1.2.3 and Scribite 4.1 in an effort to troubleshoot Steven's problem and came up with some issues of my own. Maybe they are all related?

My problem is related to Xinha, even though I am not using Xinha for anything. I have Scribite 4.1 installed, NicEdit as the default editor, and NicEdit setup for Pages and PageMaster. When I try to create or edit any page, I get three errors relating to Xinha:

    http://harntech.com/images/1.jpg

    http://harntech.com/images/2.jpg

    http://harntech.com/images/3.jpg

After clicking through the three errors, NicEdit works fine. Note that the SmartReplace error can be removed simply by unchecking the SmartReplace plugin in the Xinha settings. But if I am using NicEdit, why would this even matter?

Hopefully this will help track down both problems...

  • Nevermind. I saw elsewhere an undocumented step needed when installing Scribite 4.1... got to change the 1.htaccess file to .htaccess in the scribite/pnincludes/ folder.

Now back to your regularly-scheduled problem.

  • Thanks for nothing Wendell.

    Thanks for nothing Wendell.

Hey! I resemble that remark! Sorry, my lasso must be broken. I couldn't seem to rein in the issue. Maybe one of the other cowboys can grab this bull by the horns and get it in the corral. I must be running a few horses short of a ranch.

  • I just installed a fresh copy of Zikula 1.2.4, PageMaster and Scribite, following all installation instructions exactly... and I'm having the EXACT same problem as the OP. I've made sure that Nicedit is set as the default editor in Scribite, as well as for PageMaster within the Scribite settings, cleared every cache and compile directory in existence, and still, when trying to create a new PageMaster publication, Xinha is loaded instead.

I've tried all of the suggested fixes in this thread plus I cleared my browsers' caches and tried FF, IE8 and Chrome.

  • Ok, so I've narrowed this down to PageMaster... I can set Nicedit as the default for all modules and specifically set Nicedit for specific modules and all modules respect those settings and load Nicedit properly -- EXCEPT for PageMaster. It flat-out refuses to use anything but Xinha.

    Help?
