1.1.2 upgrade to 1.2.3  Bottom

  • Just about every thread you ever see is a problem of some kind. Well I just upgraded a site running 1.1.2 to 1.2.3 without any issues or problems of any kind! Downloads module is working fine, all the news stories are still there, the blocks are intact, and the theme works. Now I have a couple more sites to upgrade;)

  • I did find something odd just now. I have one site that has Modules 3.6 and Modules 3.3 Another site has Modules 3.3 listed three times and Modules 3.6 listed one time. I FTP in and there is no Modules folder. That is kinda freaky!

  • The Modules folder will be in /system not /modules first of all. I'd recomend Medicula to get rid of the extras. Tho the Modules module can be tricky. Gotta make sure you get rid of the right instance.

  • Just wanted to also report some good experiences lately when doing the 1.1.2 >> 1.2.3 upgrade.

A lot of these sites were also upgraded from PN .764 >> 1.1.2 using the Migration Distro, that usually goes well for the core but certain modules (pnProfile, pnForum, pnMessages, PostCalendar) require careful handling.

I even had a site that was mostly Pagesetter that upgraded
.764 >> 1.1.2 >> 1.2.3 successfully without any modification of pacesetter itself after upgrading to the last release in .764.

A lot of these sites definitly have "extras" in the databases, is Medicula safe for 1.2.3? I looked at the Cozi and SVN and it doesn't look like anything has been done to it in a year.

    pnProfile

myProfile (successor of pnProfile) has a import routine for pnProfile - did you try it?

Yes, and it worked. But what I meant by "require careful handling", is that to do the import you have to get several steps right, including manually copying database tables and renaming them. It's not your normal module version upgrade.

But by carefully following the upgrade/import docs it did work, which is why I was reporting a "good experience". I didn't say it was an "easy experience". icon_lol

By the way, I'm a big fan of your modules, thanks for all the effort.
