Unobtrusive Youtube inclusion with JS  Bottom

  • Hi,

maybe interesting for the youtube fans. http://cssrevolt.com/upload/files/prototube/
This is an unobtrusive way of including youtube in your content. It has a MIT license.
Maybe a MultiHook can be built around it? Or a xinha plugin?

  • a xinha plug-in would be fan-frickin-tastic.
  • hey that's a great thing... This is the easiest way to embed videos in forums etc. as I think...

    Thanks for the link!

  • That was also my idea. It is easy, you don't need special things and it has a fallback with a real link to the youtube video.

  • Shame I missed this thread. I just created a Xinha youtube plugin without it icon_lol : http://community.zik…pic-topic-58248.htm
  • Maybe create a 2nd xinha plug with prototube ? icon_smile advantage is that it is not a hack of any sort and you can even embed videos instead of a modular window.

  • A Xinha plugin is great but for forums I don't really want to use an HTML editor, so a MultiHook that would use Prototube to convert a plain Youtube page link or id would be great. A bbcode style button with

    Code

    [Youtube][/Youtube]

would be easy to use also.

I did a quick test. The JavaScript pasted in Xinha gets deleted by SafeHTML as well. Which means an output filter trick/hack would be required for this solution as well. Together with the fact that quite a bit of extra JavaScript needs to be loaded it seems not worthwhile going this route. Except of course for the tried and tested browser support.
@damon: sorry, I'm not into bbcode at all.
