PN News/Topics Migration to Zikula News/Categories  Bottom

  • This may have been asked before, but several exhaustive searches of the site brings up no results for what I need

In the News module's Cozi Wiki, there is mention that a migration from PN 0.764 to Zikula will take care of news article upgrades. But it is not specific. So here is my question: Will the migration process convert the old PN News topics (using the old Topics module) to Zikula Categories automatically? If not, what would be the best way to do this?

If the migration process does not take care of this issue, then I am looking for suggestions on how one would proceed with such a task. We aren't talking about just a few articles, we're talking about thousands of articles.

    Thanks! icon_biggrin

Yes, it does exactly that. All Topics are converted to sub Categories in Main - Modules - News - Articles. Using the Category admin section you may then move/rename them later on.

  • As said above it should work fine for an upgrade from pn764. Also autonews and queued articles are imported into the correct status upgraded News articles.

There is also a ticket on bulk move of articles from one category to another. Or have a choice on importing and mapping onto global categories. If you now import you get 2 categories assigned to articles (like chris already said above). On http://zikula.nl/ you can see how that works out after an upgrade.

I want to make it possible to move a large bunch of articles from one (sub)category to another. So removing the double category stuff and pointing the articles to global categories.
I have done it manually with SQL statements on my track & field site icon_smile

  • Ok, thanks guys. icon_cool

That does raise one semi-related question: If you move a Category to another location, will it take all of the associated News articles along with it?
