Zikula 1.3.0 BETA 1 released  Bottom

Go to page 1 - 2 - 3 [+1]:

  • I am happy to announce Zikula 1.3.0 Beta 1, based on build 550 http://ci.zikula.org/job/Zikula-1.3.0/550/ or you can try the latest build at http://ci.zikula.org/job/Zikula-1.3.0/

We would be very grateful if you can begin testing and possibly trying upgrades. Zikula 1.3.0 breaks old modules and non-API compliant things deliberately but we need to verify what should be working and isnt.

Generally, people have been quite apathetic to testing in general, so please let me be quite firm and clear that we need your participation. If you do not participate in the testing processes then ultimately you the user will suffer.

As you know, Zikula 1.3.0 will form the basis of long term support for two years and we are already behind schedule. The 1.3.0 release will also be the basis for the new distribution, so the more help we can get in testing, the sooner we can progress to this important milestone on our roadmap.

Thank you for helping make Zikula better.

  • I'm not 100% sure, but I think there is a problem with the 'Folder for uploaded files' in 'Formicula 2.2'. After the conversion I was making the cache folder change from 'pnTemp' to 'ztemp' and while you could change the configuration, it would never use 'ztemp' and without that, the challenge won't show up in the module.

Maybe someone else could verify that.

Ok, How did you manage to embed a Google Wave in Dizkus? Is this a new needle for MultiHook?

    Code

    WAVE-dZk4-_Y2A

Could we have one for YouTube please?

  • I'll be glad to test upgrades to 1.3, I have several sites running 1.2x but they all rely on at least News, Content, Menutree, and Scribite for content.

I'll go ahead and install the 1.3 core to at least test the installer.

Also I noticed the page title here now says
    Code
Zikula 1.3.0 BETA 1 released :: Zikula Community :: Support at your fingertips

Not really running the Beta here are you?

That's the title of this thread, go to another thread and look at it :)

  • Some quick feedback on clean install
    Environment
    Centos 5.4
    Apache/2.2.3
    MySql 5.0.90
    PHP 5.2.13

Uploaded files and created new empty database.

Ran install.php, fixed file/folder permission errors found. I uploaded the distribution using WinSCP that normally keeps permissions intact, maybe these aren't set?

    Chose Seabreeze theme.

Got security warning about changing permission on /config/config.php to 400-440-444, I tried 400 and 440 but got blank pages with those, went to 444.

Now on the admin panel I have a bell graphic with the words "Security analyzer Warnings" but no warnings listed. It doesn't seem to want to go away.

I went to admin-Users-Settings and made some changes, then tried registering as a new user and that went well.

As this new user I was able to change my email address. (Glad to see that work)

As Admin went to System - Mailer and attempted to change the Mail Transport to SMTP using the settings form my mail server and a working mail account. When I clicked on the green check to submit the new settings I got "403 Forbidden" Blank Page. Went back and checked and no matter what transport is selected no updates can be made.

The only disappointment for me in this new version is that I was REALLY hoping that the terrible, incomprehensible password recovery system would be replaced. No matter how much written explanation I provide on that page on my Postnuke/Zikula sites I have to walk someone through it by phone every day. It's much harder to get a lost password (in fact impossible since you can only receive a new random one) on any Zikula site than on the most secure bank site.

That's as far as I've gotten, will install some of the modules listed as working.

  • I dont think we released the No Wave ID needle, I'll copy paste what we did into a ticket at MultiHook.

  • Okay I checked in some code against this ticket http://code.zikula.org/multihook/ticket/28
I am not responsible for the release cycle of MultiHook but you can checkout the needle from the MultiHook repository now.

    Hope that helps.

We'll get rid of that for sure after 1.3.0 release.. I think I might schedule it for the next maintenance release... unless you fancy making a patch? Then we could slip it in this release.

That looks cool, looking at that code it doesn't really look like it would be a problem to make the YouTube needle. Although a YouTube bbcode button would be better for the forum.

Glad to hear you are going to hear the lost password change is on the agenda, wish I could code it.

Damon/Drak: I'll see if I can take care of this quickly tomorrow (my time) and see if Drak will let it sneak into 1.3.0.

  • Damon, the problem with doing a bbcode for YouTube is the same as the problem with YouTube anywhere in Zikula, outside of Content, and that's the embed code being passed through the system. Tho I think that is solved in 1.3 isn't it? At least in the case of YouTube?

Fine, let's get rid of it. It's been bugging me for years. I'll create and assign a ticket to you.
