What happened to the Webmaster Documentation?  Bottom

  • Hi. I installed Zikula a few weeks ago and browsed the online docs. They were set out quite nicely with all the info I was after, instructions etc. I've now got time to go through it all seriously and the site links all seem messed up. Title page names changed, pages that don't exist. I'm not keen on having to search individual pages out by category when it used to be laid out in a sensible order.

I may have missed something obvious but what's going on? Or is there a better place to read up on learning Zikula?
  • Damn they are gone indeed. There are issues with the Wiki at the moment.

  • Had a spammer hit the Wiki yesterday, I undid his changes, but Drak didn't want to leave the info in the history either, so he did some DB manipulation, caused a problem, but he thought he fixed it, guess it created more.

  • Cheers for the info. Hope you (or whoever) get it sorted okay. I don't want to sound out of line, but isn't it a little risky having the most useful documentation open to anyone to edit? I know it's against the spirit of Wiki but I've also experienced the hard work of rectifying malicious changes to a site. It can make it hard for newbies like myself to reliably learn the app, and it might discourage people if they can't find what they need. Personally I'm going to be patient with this as I very much like what I've seen so far, but I doubt everyone would do the same.
  • Yes, unfortuantly, at the current moment, it's not possible to allow reading with out allowing writing abiltiy. ANd there's no "rollback" function either.

It is possible - Wikula follows simple Group permissions. However, the principle of a Wiki is to allow writing to everyone (logged in). And while there is no "roll back" implemented yet, all history is kept and can be restored, if it was not deleted in the database.
    Greetings,
    Chris

  • HIstory helps fix the problems, but in this case, it does not thwart the spammer's intent, as his spam is still in the history. As to the permissions stuff, I'm just repeating what Drak said.
