  Looking at the available downloads, I don't see a path to upgrade from 1.1.2 to 1.2.3. How should I go about this?

  There is a path, go straight to 1.2.3. Read the Upgrade instructions in the docs folder of the main download of 1.2.3. It involves Backing Up everything (as is wise for every upgrade), moving a couple of modules from /system to /modules (the docs tell you which) and uploading the new files. I prefer to delete everything except /themes /config & /modules and then upload the whole package, minus the config.php of the new version.
