problems with timeIT pop-up calender not inserting/applying date - maybe ???  Bottom

  • I have been having a problem with timeIT
first, my theme uses z-index to handle the layers from menus and other elements like video players so they all play nice with each other.

When I got to setting up timeIT, I found that the calendar date picking pop-up fell behind other parts of the timeIT form (because of my theme)

Is it possible the z-index would effect the date insertion into the form from the pop-up calendar? e.g make the insertion fail or seem to do nothing because it is ending up on the wrong layer?

  • to add to the scenario info: (both sites running TimeIT v3.0)

    home test server:(no problems)
    Zikula version: Zikula 1.2.2 (forest)
    Server information: Apache/2.2.13 (Linux/SUSE)
    PHP version: 5.3.1
    Database version: MySQL 5.1.36-log

hosted server: (this one has the issue of the date not applying)
    Zikula version: Zikula 1.2.2 (forest)
    Server information: Apache/2.2(Linux/Debian)
    PHP version: 5.2.6-1+lenny6aaa+tigertech1
    Database version: MySQL 5.0.51a-24+lennyw-log

TimeIT is not the only module that has been experiencing problems with js driven scripts for modules. (but for clarity am sticking to just TimeIT) My theme has no js itself it is just html/css.

I really need to get a calender up. So any help would be really appreciated.

    As an Aside:
Since all the calendars have differences and their own issues I would prefer to use TimeIT because it is the most compliant with the variety of Zikula features and integrations for the future.

For all the 4 calendar projects I would hope they could combine their efforts ultimately. All the calendars have great useful features running along the time line. The issues of tracking how the calendars in different locals need to be configured, with date and time out of computers following the great wheel of universal time so we can all get in sync; those rules, are ultimately or should be, the future core of any calendar. I really like that PostCalendar was rescued so the folks with older sites have an upgrade path, and frankly the style of the crpCalendar date-picker pop-up is simple and beautiful. I like that Agendas Looks at the calendar with social rules outside of just public/private settings of events, while it is semester based for a school setting, it can bring the seasonal/cultural attributes back into our concept of marking time along side our daily task needs.

All the calendars are have great features. iCal then CalDav - ftw :)

you are, of course, welcome to use any calendar module you choose. As the developer of PostCalendar, I would argue with this point. TimeIt is an excellent module, no doubt. The developer, and therefore the code, is much more sophisticated to be sure. But PostCalendar is 100% compliant with current Zikula development standards for code. It integrates perfectly well with the core and multiple other third-party modules.
  • Wow Craig, i am so sorry you find differently and took offense as though I was disrespecting PostCalendar.

My point was exactly the opposite of trying to start a pissing fight! First off, let me say in the short time you have been managing PostCalendar you have made fantastic strides with it's functionality - what better proof is there than "It Works!" I admire the fact that it provides and array of hooks as well. Well Done!

But since you put it on the block let me provide a snapshot cut out of what I meant - and maybe what espaan tried to say …r ago april 20 2009

    PostCalendar 6.1.0 ------------------------- TimeIT 2.1.1

I believe 100% means something different to both of us Craig, And If you think I was dissing you I am sorry - that was not my intent.

but you continue to do so, so I continue to respond - and I'm not in a 'pissing fight' - in fact, I thought I was downright polite. I am just trying to correct misinformation.

If you have a fork, knife and spoon available an you only use the fork, does that mean dinner was poorly prepared? Just because the technology is available doesn't mean it is required. ObjectUtil, PNObject, Workflows and Pagelock were not required in the development of PostCalendar. This is because PC does not use Object Oriented Programming (hence my comment above about TimeIt being more sophisticated). However, this does not mean that PC is not 100% compliant with current Zikula development standards for code - it is! You can 'believe' whatever you like - open up the code and check for yourself - PC meets all the expectations of code development for Zikula.
  • while you were polite, you would still have your argument you want to make - Polite as derailed freight train.
oh, Yea, and like I am really just running a misinformation campaign on you and PostCalendar - sheesh
    - it is not the point of the thread I started nor the aside - really, reread it Craig.
can we be emphatic enough - or are you going to try and bully me by using all caps next ?
You should really talk to your PR guy about introducing the term expectations the way you have too.
You introduced the argument and the measure, you chose that path.

My hopes are still where I stated them in my aside.
