  • Hi all
I'm proud to announce the availability of PageMaster 0.4 RC1 for testing purposes
    code.zikula.org/pagemaster/downloads

This week has been a full work one on PageMaster, and now the Gettext-ready release is pretty near. This release solves many issues and my goal was also to improve its usability. Thanks to those people giving suggestions to make this module usable to anyone, and already logging tickets.

The idea is to get a clean and robust base to begin the work on PageMaster to make it the fully featured succesor of Pagesetter. We've defined a 4 stages roadmap to distribute all the required tasks.

For those that doesn't know what's PageMaster/Pagesetter, have to say that are powerful modules, that let us create "Publication types" and choose the Fields of each publication via web. Like build databases or simple modules from the admin panel. It let you create a Blog, a Books index, any database and customize it through templates. Later, PageMaster will support relations between pubtypes, and that will engage it all.

    Please TRY IT
Play with it, discover its power,
and let us know your impression of it in this thread,
as any suggestion to make it more friendly
    or easy to understand icon_smile

    Enjoy! icon_cool

  • GREAT. Thank you, Mateo
  • Loving it already and looking forward to relations. icon_smile

I was thinking about submitting tickets regarding some spelling and grammatical errors, but is that the appropriate way to handle it? For instance, "length" is spelled "lenght" in a couple places and the intro text in the admin area needs a little tweaking.
  • Great news Mateo! Thanks icon_cool
Will do some testing as soon as possible.
  • Hmm, I've got a PM publication displaying in a Content page. If I'm logged in, I can see it, if i'm not I can't. I can see the pub directly regardless. ANyone have any idea what I'm missing?

  • caching issue ?
  • Doubt it. Caching is turned off on the site and the browser was flushed. Plus other changes done since the PM page was inserted show up as expected. And it's not a general PM Permissions issue either because direct access to the publication shows right. I'll probably look at the Pagesetter Content Plugins tonight and see if I can re-create them for PM shouldn't be THAT hard right?

  • Using Zikula 1.2.1

I created a simple pubtype and initially got a lot of red errors "Exit handler: Exiting after SQL error" Exit handler: Error! Invalid result received"

I was using directory based short urls, after I turned off short urls these errors went away.

I created the templates for my pbutype as instructed and placed them in the /config directory, I did a little customizing on them, Pagemaster is using these custom template but still showing the warning box "this is a generic template".

It has been a while since I tried Pagesetter or Pagemater but my initial impression is that it is already easier to use. There are several pubtypes I've been dreaming of creating, just waiting for a version of Pagesetter/master that I can understand. Thanks for working on it.

Submit a ticket on that one.

That was perplexing me too, but it's in the pagemaster_generic_navbar.htm template (not sure why it's there and not indicated as such). It only appears to the admin and only if you have the module configured to show the extra info.

The other warning box just made me think I hadn't created the templates correctly, so I editing them to have the words "My custom template" at the top to make sure they were actually being used.

  • Yeah, that threw me off too. I'll have to go in and change all that stuff as I work on the site I'm implementing it on. Next step is to remember how I did the old PS Workflow I had to use Pagesetter as a Site Application. Visitor creates the pub, when the Admin approves it, they're added to the proper group and the app becomes a profile page.

Oh and I don't know WHAT the problem was with my Content display issue, but I deleted the PM Module call and recreated it and it works as expected now.. I hate computers sometimes :)

  • Computers hate you Michael.

    Thanks Mateo!

Looking forward to talking to Wendell and Darryl and seeing what they find. I have no time to test right now but the PS God will take a peek I'm sure. (Darryl)
  • @Damon:
There's a missing note, and is that you need to cistomize 'pagemaster_generic_navbar.htm' too, because it contains the generic message. You can remove all the code after:

    Code

    <!--[insert name='getstatusmsg']-->

    @Michael:
Seems that you need at least a new operation (see /modules/pagemaster/workflow/operations) and add it in the Standard workflow process. Profile 1.5 let you build profilesections, that can check for the user PM registry in that pubtype, and add it in the main user profile.

I hope that the fixes and changes to the workflows work good.
With the Standard workflow the user submit contents with Comment access, Moderators or higher can approve it, only the Editors can update its contents and deletion is only for those with Delete access.

I have implemented the status messages in the operations, and can be disabled from the XML with:

    Code

    <operation silent="1">updatePub</operation>
Will see how to extend them for stepmode too.

    Greetings and have fun icon_cool

Yeah, I remember I did a custom operation to make the changes to the user's group membership, wish I still had the code, but as i recall that was the easy part of the process anyway. I'll look at Profile 1.5, it may better suit the clients that are wanting this functionality.

  • Okay, question is it possible to return to the refering page when editing a publication? I use Content w/ PageMaster pubs to create editable zones for my Church staff, but when they edit it, it takes to the publication view, I want it to go back to the COntent page view.
