Understanding Categories  Bottom

  • Looks like categories has changed again with the introduction of gettext (at least that is what I think)

I am trying to setup a tree of questions for FAQ and when I try to add each level I am getting ' Error! The localised name has not been defined.' for the value of the localised name. I am assuming I need to create a pot file and mo/po files for any category I create I am just not sure where they should go and how to create them.

Any help is appreciated.... and more insight into Categories would be helpful too!

    thanks!
  • nope - that just means you need to fill in that field in the 'create new category' page. there is a fieldset with title 'localized output' there. - you need to fill it in.
  • There are TWO fields for the localised name... You have to fill in BOTH of them to not get the reported error. Why do you need to fill in both of those fields and how are they used?

There are two name fields and two description fields.

in my install, there is only one each. I wonder what is causing that?
  • 1.2.1?
  • Now, I understand craigh's response.
I just didn't understand why there were two name fields and two descriptions fields.
It sounds like this is a mistake, yes?
  • I just upgraded to 1.2.1

    I just upgraded to 1.2.1

and this was happening before or after the upgrade?
  • check your /locale directory (at zikula root) is there only one /en directory in there?
  • I hadn't checked on categories for this website BEFORE I did the upgrade but if I look at another website that is still at 1.1.2 there is only ONE entry for each name and description. And now after the 1.2.1 upgrade there are TWO for each name and description.

And there is only one /en in the /locale directory.
  • very odd. I have a few sites running 121 now and don't see this behavior...
  • You have multiple entries there for different languages, one for each one, but you should see the language code below each input, so, if I have a site with English and Spanish the presented form will look "like this":

    Category name:
    [_______] (en)
    [_______] (es)

    Category description:
    [_______] (en)
    [_______] (es)

Basically you have to put the display name and description of the category for each language icon_wink we have a problem if you don't see the language code... anyways, seems that there's a bug there. Currently I see:

    (es)
    (es)
    (en)

Seems to take in account my /config/locale/es icon_frown
so, please report the bug in the tracker...
we may need hotfixes (as Axel said when we found the first 1.2.0 bugs)
