PostCalendar 5.8.2 "Create A New Event" template layout  Bottom

Go to page 1 - 2 [+1]:

  • I have just upgraded to PostCal 5.8.2 and was notice that when "Create A New Event" the template is superimposed onto the right column of my theme. Is there a way to program PostCal to behave in such a way that when creating a new event the right/left columns of the theme do not show? You can view a screen capture of the problem here: http://www.musiqueancienne.org/images/Temp/PostCalendar5.8.2.jpg . It would be great to have a clean template view to enter data.

I have used the PostCalendar since the early PostNuke and it is a great/mature module. Thanks for the great work on migrating it to Zikula.
  • Make a new template for the theme with out them. The problem lies not in PC but in your theme. THat looks like an amazingly narrow theme to have the side blocks appear in all pages IMHO.

  • That template is indeed rather small and not meant for 2 "major" columns I think. It is just 640px wide (at least the original icon_smile http://www.oswd.org/design/information/id/3285/). You can make a template in your theme for the calendar and remove the right column (as halbrooktech) already said. Are you using the BlankTheme version of naturalist? Then there are already several examples of templates for modules in the templates dir.

  • Hello Marc, thanks for using PostCalendar!

I agree that the solution should be theme based. I suggest overriding the template in your theme to get the effect you wish. Let me know if you need help.
  • Seeing as it is a narrow theme, how would I go about making it just a one fit in just the centre block? This may be a more eloquent and easy fix and would not be dependent of the theme column constriction.
  • I just installed the Naturalist theme (Both BT and non-BT) and in both, the submit new event squeezes in to the main column just fine. Can't say that I like it squeezed in that much (I actually evaluated that theme for a site I'm working on and tossed it because I don't like it that narrow). The BT does have a calendar template that you can define in the Page Configurations that takes care of things just fine for you.

  • PostCalendar 6.0.0 RC5 available Zikula 1.2.1 required. please test if you can. thanks!
  • Thanks for the help. I switched the theme to BTNaturalist. It is quite a bit better than the regular Naturalist however still a thin theme. I am having problems with:

    1. PostCalendar is not showing a full week in the left block. It seems to be truncated. I would imagine this due to the narrowness of the block? Is there a way to fix this?
    2. The navigation bar. Is there a way to add buttons however using by referring to a page rather than module ( i.e.
  • is there somewhere I can see this?

    which navigation bar?
  • BTW - the templates in PostCalendar 6 are a LOT better in terms of accessibility, usability, validity, etc. I would encourage you to use that. I made an RC6 just for you! I'd work with that one icon_smile
  • Oops. I forgot to leave the link to the site: http://www.nbpo.ca

    Thanks. I'll give PostCalendar rc6 a try.

this is caused by the fact that your theme has a setting of

    Code

    padding:0.5em;
in content.css. so it is overriding postcalendar's styles and making the block wider than will fit.
still don't understand the second question.
  • PostCal rc6 looks good. I still have a problem with the "Add event" where the other half of the template is superimposed on the first half. It would be cool if PostCal gave the option of either having the second half of the "Add event" either on left side or below the large imput data field. If this were available in the PostCal settings it would then nullify any need of tampering with any of the themes. It looks like the Naturalis (BT or otherwise) is most likely one of the narrowest themes to use.

You can see a screenshot here: http://www.musiqueancienne.org/images/Temp/PostCalendar6rc6.png

BTW ... I have to say that PostCal is pretty impressive. I am thinking more and more moving my embeded "WedCalendars" (http://www.k5n.us/webcalendar.php) that I use in some of my Zikula sites to PostCal. Where WebCalendar excels is in sharing calendars with others as well as its filters and Import/export from iCalendar, vCalendar or Palm -- of these three formats I view ical support as the more important of the 3 formats. You can view/compare WebCalendar's features on their website.

Because this is such a specific case, I believe it would not be worth the coding effort to make this flexible. I would be more than happy to help you create an override though specific to your situation. please PM me.

Thank you! I have been working really hard to make PostCalendar relevant again. I appreciate the support.

yes, PostCalendar used to support iCal export/import. I discovered that recurring events are VERY difficult to translate between the formats and therefore removed it @v5.8. You are welcome to submit a ticket to it's reinclusion, but I'll say in advance, I'm not sure I could do it based on my coding skills.
  • My second question got chopped off for some reason. Here is what if should have read:

( i.e. Tickets) The navigation bar is using Smarty functions to display the buttons. Can there be a mix of both Smarty and
