Standard upgrade procedure, backup, install new files, regenerate modules list in the Modules admin, click the upgrade button for UserPictures.

as long as you have a working solution.
but, for reference here's the 'standard' procedure:
- backup
- delete the old module from the /modules directory
- upload the new version to the /modules directory
- in browser go to Admin > system (panel) > Modules
- regenerate the modules list
- the module should now show with a special 'upgrade' icon
- click the upgrade icon to upgrade

I think I read somewhere that there is a bug in the version number and although you do an upgrade from 1.1 to 1.2 it still shows 1.1. The developer said that he will fix this with the next version. -
