ive tried it on 3 computers, no error or anything just infinite loop in the upgrade, asks me for language, asks for admin username and password (which i give it) then it asks for language again, then admin username and password.... etc ... forever and ever
any thoughts on that? i would like to upgrade because some module updates require it, but for some reason the upgrade script just doesn't work.

Well, we need to know a few things to help out.
1. What are you upgrading FROM
2. What are you upgrading TO
3. What version of PHP
4. What version of MySQL
5. What OS

Try this. On your old install change the theme to andrea08. Install 1.2.0 files to a separate directory. Point that config.php to your old database and make sure you change utf8 to latin1 in the config. Run the upgrade.php
Now you can add your modules back to the modules dir and go and regenerate the module list, upgrade each remaining module separately.
