News 2.5 with Scribite 4.1  Bottom

Go to page 1 - 2 [+1]:

  • When I go to edit a news item, there are a series of error dialog boxes starting with

    Code

    An error has occurred: Forbidden
    URL: http://tybee500.com/newtybee500/modules/scribite/pnincludes/xinha/modules/CreateLink/dialog.html

This is Zikula 1.2 using directory urls.

  • I haven't been able to sort this out, still have the error pop-ups. I use other versions of Scribite on other sites on the same server with no problem.

I checked the error logs for the site and found it is filling up with

every time the Scribite module loads.

So it looks like something has changed with Scribite 4.1 that the server security (which is pretty tight) doesn't like.

Just go to Xinha settings and press OK/Submit to regenerate new plugin list and save it.
  • Did that work Damon? Or is there still something with News as well ?

No, forgot to mention that I had tried that from the ticket. Also tried uninstalling and reinstalling 4.1.

I've tried unchecking all the plugins for Xinha in admin (and check ok). With everything unchecked I still get alerts from
    /modules/scribitie/pnincludes/xinha/modules/CreateLink/dialog.html
    and
    /modules/scribitie/pnincludes/xinha/modules/InsertImage/dialog.html

This happens every time Scribite loads, no matter the module.

This is with Scribite period, not with news. I thought I logged a ticket, but I've been busy trying to fix another issue I created on a site, I rolled back to 4.0 I think the problem is in Xinha specifically.

  • There is a ticket, and it's a solvable issue easily. Go in to the Admin for Scribite, to the settings for Xinha and save the settings, it should solve the problem. WOrked on my sites.

That solution did not work for me and I reopened the ticket
    http://code.zikula.o…/scribite/ticket/67

I've not only done the OK thing but also removed Scribite completely and reinstalled.
    no change
    tried unchecking all plugins
    no change

It looks like this might be caused by the missing .htaccess file mentioned in ticket 65, evidently the extdb can't handle .htaccess files, which is pretty bad if that makes the module downloaded from community.zikula.org unusable.

    http://code.zikula.org/scribite/ticket/65
which mentioned that the .htaccess file is available in SVN.

The problem there is that SVN for scribite is broken, mentioned in ticket 69
    http://code.zikula.org/scribite/ticket/69

so I tried creating it manual from the file here
    http://code.zikula.org/scribite/browser/trunk/scribite/modules/scribite/pnincludes/.htaccess

When that made no difference I tried clearing all cache and compiled folders, not change.

  • thats exactly the right file. You have stored it at the right place?

Is scribite! working in other modules e.g. pages?

  • I download scribite right now, I had the same error but I think it was because there is an error in the file name: /scribite/modules/scribite/pnincludes/.htaccess
In the scribite package the file ".htacces" is named "1.htaccess"
I remove the 1 and no problem occurred.

EDIT: sorry it was written also in the ticket

  • I just installed this module and the "1.htaccess" file is still present and causing problems with error messages (4) window popups. Is there a way to rename this file? Rename the file from "1.htaccess" to ".htaccess" fixes it. I can well imagine that people are electing to not use the xinha editor due to the popups. IMHO xinha is probably the more "user friendly" editor of the group.

It seems like such an easy fix for the package. I would label this as a "HIgh priority".

This is related to an unfixed bug in extdb. An .htaccess can not been strored there.

Me too, but in fixing the extdb...

  • I'm going to add a question here as it relates to News 2.5 & Scribite 4.1 (on Zikula 1.2.3)

In this case using openwysiwig :

When I Create a News Item, everything 'seems' to be ok (as far as I can tell, but IE8 reports "Errors on this web page may cause it to work incorrectly". Here are the details:

    Webpage error details

Message: 'undefined' is null or not an object
    Line: 4440
    Char: 5
    Code: 0
    URI: http://www.patrickhester.ie/javascript/ajax/prototype.js

Message: 'undefined' is null or not an object
    Line: 4440
    Char: 5
    Code: 0
    URI: http://www.patrickhester.ie/javascript/ajax/prototype.js

Message: 'null' is null or not an object
    Line: 4621
    Char: 7
    Code: 0
    URI: http://www.patrickhester.ie/javascript/ajax/prototype.js

Message: 'undefined' is null or not an object
    Line: 4440
    Char: 5
    Code: 0
    URI: http://www.patrickhester.ie/javascript/ajax/prototype.js

    Message: Object required
    Line: 1816
    Char: 5
    Code: 0
    URI: http://www.patrickhester.ie/javascript/ajax/prototype.js

In addition, the little circly graphic (/images/ajax/circle-ball-dark-antialiased.gif) and the word "statustext" appears and remains.

If I go to 'Edit' a News Item, I get the same situation, but without the circly graphic and statustext appearing.

I am a first time use of Scribite, and it makes a very friendly editor for users, so I am very keen to use it.

Is this a problem? If not, why does this appear? If so, what is not working and what effect wil it have, and how do you fix it?

    Thanks.
  • Hi,

any partical reason why you chose openwysiwyg? Xinha in scribite is where the developement of scribite is focused at and also wihtin News most functions have been tested thoroughly with Xinha, but not so much with all the other editors.

Do the articles save ok and work after the creation/editing?
