Migrating from pn .764 hangs on Upgrade All Modules!  Bottom

Go to page [-1] 1 - 2:

  • what modules did you have in your original install?
  • I didn't have anything special I don't believe. Just ones that came with it.

The templates module did say it was missing files.

  • you're right - it doesn't appear that there is anything significantly 'special'. I assume many of these are not activated before you attempt the upgrade (e.g. 'Example').

When you say Template module, you mean Xanthia, right? The missing files shouldn't be a problem since...

you are deleting ALL files and replacing them with only the files in the migration distribution before running upgrade, right? you can add the other non-standard modules after the upgrade (PNphpBB2, pn_bbcode,pn_bbsmile, etc)

do you have data you are trying to salvage? You mentioned earlier that you deleted a bunch of users. Is there some things you are trying to KEEP?
  • There is a Xanthia module that is fine. There is also one called Templates that says it is missing files.

Yes, I deleted all of the old PN files and then installed Zikula fresh.

All I want to salvage is are the articles, which there are only about 200 or so. I don't need any of the PNphpBB (forum) data.

The install is still running. Going on about 5 hours now. I was just going to see if it ever finished.
  • hmmm. the 'templates' you mention might be a clue to the problem. look in your /modules directory and see what you find. I'll guess you'll find some stray PHP files. that templates directory shouldn't be there. Something might be corrupt with your PN install which is causing problems. look into this 'templates' directory and see if you can determine what it is associated with. I'll guess somewhere along the line, you mis-installed a theme or module and are just now seeing the effects. it must have corrupted your DB somehow.

at the least, remove the stuff that shouldn't be there, using the modules module, delete then remove the files of stray stuff like that.

you may have to overwrite a PN installation on top of your old stuff to get it working....

another idea, and maybe Eric can chime in here, would be to install Zikula brand new, then add the old News tables and then install the new news module.... you might have an issue with the 'informant' column though...

I've reinstalled the Downloads 2.2 module and it appears fine. I have also made sure all of the modules listed in the upgrade doco that are supposed to be activated are active. Looking through all the current postnuke modules, all of them look fine except the Template module. It shows it is "missing files".

I do not recall any module named Template. Is it possible you have a template directory that is out of place? Or perhaps a DB entry that refers to a module that doesn't exist? I'd check to see what is in the directory Template (if one exists) - because if it isn;t a module, it wouldn;t look like a module to the upgrade script and you might well get a message that says it is missing files (like version, etc). And if there is a DB entry for a module that does't exist, then perhaps removing the DB entry will fix this.

If that's the case, perhaps all you need to do is remove it (and look at the database and remove any related database fields).

    Just a thought.

  • arf, arf!
  • I've deleted the Template Module from the Modules section. I also deleted pnphpBB2 module. I've deactivated almost all but the required modules in the upgrade instructions.

Still is hanging on "Upgrade all modules"
  • There are 621 articles. Those are really the only important thing I'm trying to get imported.
  • after you deleted the template thing, did you regenerate your module list in 764 before upgrading? if you don't, then it will remain in your DB list of modules.

did you also scan your modules directory (and root directory) for other stray files?

maybe try repairing your database before the upgrade?
  • If you could get me a (gzipped) copy of your original DB backup (where you had all the original users, modules, ans so on), I might be able to trace the problem. Put one online somewhere for me to download, or (if it's < 5MB) attach it directly to an e-mail to teb [at] zikula [dot] nl
