Migrating from pn .764 hangs on Upgrade All Modules!  Bottom

Go to page 1 - 2 [+1]:

  • While going through the upgrade, once I click on UPGRADE ALL MODULES button, the browser just keeps saying loading. I let it run for an hour or two, but it just sits there!
  • to be sure, you are using the PN.764 -> zk1.1.2 migration distribution, right? and following the directions accompanying them?
  • Yes, I downloaded this version: http://code.zikula.org/core/downloads/160
  • this is typically a slow time for support around here. I'm sorry you are having trouble. Others may be around in a day or two to give you more ideas.

did you follow the directions carefully? Did you test this (or is this your test?) did you upgrade Downloads to 2.2 first? did you update config.php?
  • I had missed doing the Downloads upgrade to 2.2. So, I restored the entire site from backup, upgraded Downloads to 2.2 and went step by step thru the upgrade instructions. It is now hanging on the first step (CLICK HERE TO START THE UPGRADE PROCESS). It just sits on that page forever once I click the button.
  • is that different from the behavior you had before?
  • Yes, I was getting past that point before. As it was hanging on the UPGRADE ALL MODULES button before.
  • I just finished restoring the backup again. Not sure I'm ready to proceed again..
  • I've reinstalled the Downloads 2.2 module and it appears fine. I have also made sure all of the modules listed in the upgrade doco that are supposed to be activated are active. Looking through all the current postnuke modules, all of them look fine except the Template module. It shows it is "missing files".
  • I also think I found the issue with why the initial step is taking so long. It shows over 25,000 members. Is there a mass prune utility to delete all members except the original admin account?
  • Are you sure you want to lose all other member accounts? There is user related stuff in the upgrade (all kind of fields are transfered, passwords are hashed in another manner). But I think people with a lot of accounts managed to upgrade as well.
Did you try the upgrade on a local copy of your test site?

You can try the upgrade (backup, backup icon_smile ) after deleting all users except for the admin in the pn_users table. Just to see if that is the problem. All a lot of work of course icon_frown

  • 95% of those user accounts are spam accounts.
  • Ah, then you might do a rough scan through the table with an editor. The Email accounts being used can identify a lot of them. Then you can remove those at least.

  • I've removed most of the accounts. Down to less than 100 now.

The import speeds through the first part of the import and completed "Installation of new system modules complete".

Once I click on the "Upgrade all modules" button, it sits and runs and runs. Has been running for about 2 hours now!
