  Just upgraded a site from 1.1.1 to 1.2
  had issues with the upgrade script dying during the module upgrade process I think it worked though... ultimately I just overwrote the file structure and upgraded the DB and it worked... *I think*
  
  First let me say that I love 1.2 SO fast and clean! Congratz!
  
  Now to the issues-
  
  1.) Special characters like the copyright symbol and some apostrophes are showing up as little question marks in boxes... :(
  
  2.) pnusergetvar is not recognizing "_UREALNAME" anymore... it works fine with "uname" and others but not what I need... :(
  
  I'm also getting a lot of exhausted memory errors when the site is looking for 25 or so bytes above the 20m limit I have... Any thoughts on how I might be able to reduce the load... there aren't many blocks... could my js/css combination be the issue... will reducing the js help?
  
  Again, thanks for all the hard work- it shows!!
  
  If anyone has any ideas I can give you the login to the site (it's a copy of a live site- you know...practice first!!)

  I believe the special characters not showing up correctly is a function of the browser, not the server. At least that's what I was always told. Checking for references...

  Sometimes it's a mismatch between database and theme encodings Bart
  Worst case is a corrupt backup that corrupts the database encoding itself...

  Alas, I think it's probably an issue with my backup... :(
  
  I can't imagine that FF on Mac, Win and Safari are ALL loused up... ;)
  
  In any event- I am finding that when I try and run the upgrade script it just dies on me when upgrading the modules... I know this is silly- but can someone post a clear instruction for upgrading from 1.1.1 -> 1.2?
  
  Here's what I've done to no avail.
  
  1.) backup everything ;)
  2.) overwrite the existing zikula install with the files from 1.2
  3.) run the upgrade.php script
  
  Well, that's not working... :(
