I have Zikula website which I would like to build a phone application (android). The application should be able to access mysql data from a module I have built for this website. Therefore my website needs to be a content provider. Does anyone know what I need to provide on the hosting server side which allows this interaction.
It will need to authenticate the user before any information is accessed or changed.
I have been going through android developers documentation but what seems to be missing is how to setup a content provider host.

Do you want to build a web app or an Android app?
If you wish to build an Android app then any info will be found in the Android developer docs... that's beyond me- I run an iPhone... ;)
If you wish to make a web app- it's really as simple as formatting your website (theme) to fit Android and making it "look" and "feel" like an app...
As a website it will connect to the server and operate like a standard Zikula site, users will have to log-in etc... you can use all the Zikula API's and features etc...
