Gauging Interest in updated NukeWrapper, FormExpress, and feproc  Bottom

  • I've done work on all three of these modules in the past year and would like to know if there is enough interest for me to try to package them up for release as new versions. Ideally I would love to do so for all of them, but I never seem to have the time, so I'm trying to get some idea of priorities.

NukeWrapper is a module to wrap either static files or external URLs in your site theme. It worked as-is. What I've done is renamed it to Wrapper (for a client request, however that does fit better with the new naming guidelines). I've also added a function that just provides Zikula security for static files, without modifying them in any way. Essentially a way for using Zikula to secure a file area that is maintained via FTP. The module was unfortunately written completely pre pnRender, and could use a lot of cleaning up. (it directly includes header.php and footer.php in many cases).

Both FormExpress and feproc needed modification to work under Zikula. I think I've asked about FE/feproc once before and the answer was generally that it wasn't needed. However, I found it useful for a school site I had set up. They are able to make forms themselves just through the web interface, as opposed to having to make templates with something like Formicula.
  • I am interested in Wrapper.
  • You have feproc and formexpress working in Zikula ? That sounds interesting. I've switched to Formicula for my forms, but that was not so easy.
Maybe formexpress can even be updated to output forms for Formicula for instance.

  • Get thee to the Cozi and get projects set up for them :D All are of great use. As Erik says, Formicula is a good program, but FE was much easier from an admin pov.

  • +1 for FormExpress. I found myself nostalgic for it last month.
  • What is the protocol for taking over a project like this ? I mailed the original author of NukeWrapper a few days ago and haven't heard back. FormExpress was originally released by a company - I've mailed them, but the address in the last release of feproc isn't valid. The last maintainer was Klavs Klavsen
  • I think you've taken reasonable steps. It is GPL, so really no permission is necessary, although it is nice to ask.
  • feproc and formexpress have been transfered several times in the past, so why not add 1 more icon_smile
If you have contacted the previous maintainers, than there is not much more you can do I think.

  • I've heard back from the authors of NukeWrapper and FormExpress, and we're discussing how to go forward.

In the mean time a project was created for Wrapper, and I've brought it up to date with my changes that renamed the module and add the file protection only mode. You can grab a devel snapshot from http://code.zikula.o…apper/browser/trunk with the "Download zip archive" link at the bottom.

All documentation is the same as the old, I added some notes on the differences to the top of the ReadMe.txt file.
