[Pagesetter] Threaded History of Contact Requests  Bottom

  • Ok, here's what I currently have: A "Contact Request" pubtype where any unregistered or registered user can submit a new publication. It is used as a Contact Us form and allows me to keep a record of all contacts made from the site.

What I want to do: I would like to be able to respond to the user with an email or message of some sort that would also be tracked in PS. Maybe my response would create a new publication that is tied to the original publication, sort of like a thread (Gmail is a good example of that) and the original user would be alerted of my response via email. The user would follow a link in the notification email to view the thread.

The only problem I see here is the fact that the thread would be viewable by anyone. I would prefer that it at least be somewhat obscure, like maybe with a unique URL that is provided in the user's email notification. It may be that I cannot provide this type of thing for unregistered users, but I'd sure like that ability.

From the webmaster's perspective, this is great because of the history of contacts that is stored in the database. Another great aspect of this is for web sites with mulitple webmasters, so any of those webmaster's can see contact requests and respond to them appropriately because they have access to the full history of each thread.

    Thoughts, ideas, solutions?
  • you need to create a custom workflow-eo-eo
  • d'oh!

Thanks. I dunno why but I always tend to conveniently forget about the workflows themselves.
