What module can do this?  Bottom

  • I used Post Nuke .714 several years ago, and because I was pleased with that, I am hoping Zikula will be even better for what I need now. However, I'm not familiar with the newer modules and what they can do, so I'm hoping someone can help me with some advice, before I invest the time installing the wrong ones!
I need a module that will allow me to upload images such as pdf's for a set of clients, but each client should see only the pdf meant for them and not the others. Ideally, they should then be able to download a copy of the image to their own computer if they wish. I'm thinking that I can use Mediashare by naming the top folder "reports" and then creating a folder for each client under that. I would then set the permissions for that client only. I'm hoping then, that the other users will not even see anything but their own folder.
Does anyone know if I will be able to do that, or are there better options? I would prefer something that was actually built for the purpose of having a personal download section for each user, but I haven't seen it.
Any ideas or foresights into this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for all the great work you guys do. I just love CMS! (and GNU) icon_cool

  • For PDF MediaAttach is probably a better choice. It can do everything you describe.
  • Well, one problem is that my client thinks pdfs take too long to load on the page, so I'm considering saving the larger pdf files as a jpg or png image. - What's your thought on that?
I'd like to check out the MediaAttach anyway, but I can't seem to locate the module anywhere. do you have a download or detail link?
The link attached to it in your post, goes to the main zikula release downloads, and I don't see anything on that page about MediaAttach. I have also done a search, and still haven't found any thing for it other than more posts leading to the same unhelpful page! Please point me to a download or detail page. Thanks for your help!

  • ok - after reading the documentation - it seems that MediaAttach is just a hook for other modules, what module do I use it with to accomplish my goal... I'm assuming Mediashare? or would it be something else?
Or does it work on it's own also?
I'm sorry for all the ignorance, but I'm not at all familiar with these modules.
    Thanks again

  • Look into CoDoc, its betaish but dits makes good stuff and it worked for a similar need I had. It's designed for managing docs, you just have to set up permissions with it.

Pagesetter can do the same thing you need but there is a steep learning curve with PS.
  • thanks, I'll look into that also.

  • CoDoc is in the dits project home on the cozi:

  • Please do note that CoDoc indeed is beta and I doubt if there will be much development on it. It might serve your purpose reasonably well though. If you use it you will probably need to invest some time in creating custom Smarty templates. You could also have a look at the Downloads module. And then Mateo wrote a documents module with a very nice Ajax interface. Forgot it's name unfortunately. Can you remember Steven?
