1. Can you use PM to create a Contact Us feature? Currently I use PS/pgForm for this. The visitor can fill out a pgForm and the information is stored in the PS database. I or any other admin can login to the site and view the list of recent contacts. Not only does this allow me to have a record of every contact, but it means that any other admin (or user with appropriate permissions) can view the contacts and respond -- it's not limited to one person receiving the email notification. Further, I can use PS's waiting block to alert an admin of new contacts received.
2. Can you relate publications to each other in PM?
3. Can you use PM to allow moderators to create and edit publications themselves without having access to the Zikula admin area? With PS, I can setup permissions so that certain people, such as moderators (with permissions higher than users but lower than admins) can completely manage their own website without ever having to visit the Zikula admin area. I can create a series of PS publication types that allows this to work flawlessly in conjunction with pgForm (in order to make the forms nice looking and easy to use, plus validation functionality).
4. Can you use PM to create a user-manageable image or media gallery? Similar to #3 above, I can use a few PS pubtypes to create an image gallery that is manageable by non-admin users. This includes uploading, editing, deleting, etc.
5. Can you place the forms of other PM pubtypes inside another PM publication? With PS/pgForm, I can have a particular PS publication show a form from a different pubtype. So, I could have pubtype A where I create a contact publication with all of my contact information, then below that include the form of pubtype B (via pgForm).
6. With PM, can you call a custom template in the URL? In PS and pgForm, you can add "&tpl=templatename" to the URL, which will use the custom template you specify instead of the standard template. Why is this important? Well, you could have certain publications use that custom template when they needed to, such as for alternate formatting suitable for printing or saving to PDF. You could also use that to display a special popup from within a publication.
7. Can you export schemas in PM to be used on other sites? That is one of the most awesome features of PS -- I can create a pubtype and export all the information for import on another site.
8. Can you create custom workflows in PM?
9. Can you integrate any of the popular calendar modules with PM?
10. Is there an archiving feature in PM (like the pgArchive module for PS)?
11. Can you import PS data into PM cleanly and completely?
Whew! Well, that's all I have for now. I may think of more later. If anyone can contribute with more questions and hopefully some answers, that would be great. I'm not trying to diss Pagemaster here, I just need to make sure it is as powerful as Pagesetter before I make the leap. Currently, I don't see it being there yet and I do test new versions once in awhile.
I do understand that some of the questions may already have answers (like relations being in the works and data import is currently being worked on) but I am attempting to compile a complete list. I would love to get away from Guppy and other outdated stuff in Pagesetter, so those are my main motivations for watching Pagemaster's development.
Thank you to everyone involved in all three projects!
