  • Hi,
I've not been around for a while... I'm the original author of the mGallery2 module... how can I regain administrator access to my project ?

    Regards...

    Mike ( thaughbaer )
  • Mike, it might be better to post to the Zikula discussions list for an answer to this. Not all the guys who are qualified to answer this are necessarily regular forum readers... Just my suggestion icon_smile

  • Hi Mike!
    excellent to see you here!

Philipp (philipp2) was reworking the Gallery 2.3 integration (some lang defines are still missed) and i have done some code cleaning too. Please tell me which is your Cozi username to assign you TRAC_ADMIN privilegies in the project icon_wink

    Greetings!

  • Hi,
development of mGallery2 stalled at some point, so its not finished (or even usable) at all!
There are still some unresolved bugs in the zikula core module 'Groups', that I would have to work around to successfully use hooks until those things are going to be resolved (estimated in zk 1.2). I will try to continue my work on this module when I find some time (and finally get my stupid SVN client to work again). Maybe we can share some thoughts :)

  • Hello Gallery users and mGallery2 developers.

First to report that I am successfully using the current mGallery2 on Zikula 1.1.1 sites. There are bugs and some things that don't work (short urls, page previews, and some broken language defines) but the ability to give group permissions based on Zikula groups and allow Zikula users to upload and edit their own albums works fine.

I've been following the newest version of Gallery (Gallery 3) with great interest. It's now in Beta 2 and is looking pretty stable. They are about to release the integration API and it promises to be cleaner than Gallery 2 just like the rest of the new version.

So I'm hoping the mGallery2 developers will be interested in working on a mGallery3, maybe instead of working on mGallery2 since they are providing a very nice importer (already works) to go from 2 to 3.

  • Hi damon,
    sorry for the delay!
I am still/again busy with mGallery2. Lots of things are not working yet, others have already been fixed/improved locally, which I will be comitting soon. So when there finally is a usable version of this module again, I would be glad to have people test, debug and suggest things.
I am interested in the new Gallery3 too. But from what I read, integrations will be possible with v3.1. Anyway, in my opinion it is important right now, to have a working concept of such an integration, which can be later adapted to the new G3 API. With concept, I mean a good way to handle the user/group synchronisation and offer some features to further define things (ie only snyc users from zikula group x and put them into G2 group y), instead of just synchronizing each and everything. But as I said, I am open for suggestions.

Sorry for not being very precise now, I am a little busy at the moment.

    Regards,
    Philipp
  • Philipp,

I'm just glad to hear you are still interested in working on the Gallery/Zikula integration. Are you working with thaughbaer on this? Ever so often I checkout the mGallery2 SVN to see if there have been any changes.

I'd like to help by testing new versions or trying out your setup. If you need a testing domain I could provide that.

Gallery 2 is a great product and very mature, so I'm glad you are going to keep working on it.

I agree that the integration should do a good job recognizing Zikula groups inside Gallery. Please also make Gallery able to use short urls while imbedded. Ideally these would have the album and item titles in the URL, but even just something like http://example.com/module-gallery/item3333 would be an improvement.

  • Damon,

Saw your site, nice by the way.

How do you go about using Gallery 2 with your Zikula? I was about to upgrade to 1.1.2, i noticd you said you use 1.1.1.
  • damon,
I did not hear anything from thaughbear, but I did not contact him either.
Will do so when I have comitted all the changes I made already, so we can discuss things based on the latest code and ideas.
Right now I am focusing on getting the whole synchronization logic up and working, but I have the impression I am thinking too complicated. Thats why I need your opinions on how to improve the usability and functionality.
Regarding the short urls, I will look at it right after completing the sync stuff. I promise .)

    wcsc,
please be aware, that there currently is no fully working integration module available. The download version (0.2) may work to a certain extend, but the core file modifications (of Users and Groups modules) are most definitely outdated. The SVN files on the other hand, are in active development and not guaranteed to work, nor supported for updates. I fear, you will have to wait some time for a (more or less) stable version supporting updates :)
  • Ugh.

Are there any other galleries at the current time I can use with Zikula?

I'm only interested in a basic gallery clients can look at from my site. I don't really need other user activity, other than myself showing off a portfolio.
  • I think Mediashare fits your needs then. Best thing about it: its API compliant :)
    Regards,
    Philipp
  • Hey Philipp,

Thank you very much, I greatly appreciate it. I think that's exactly what I need.

    Erik
