  I saw this thread a few month ago and I really like this idea.
  What is the current status of this "tweak"?

  There is also this Core ticket on CSS / JS optimization: http://code.zikula.org/core/ticket/1041

  Hi,
  i'm afraid I don't have that much time to really pick it up soon. And it needs some thorough work since, nested style sheets (used in BlankTheme for instance ) don't work yet. I could send you my current status if you like to take a look at it?

  Hi,
  I've added my stuff (after some improvements still ) to the 1041 core ticket. You can see the result in my erikspaan.nl test site. There the CSS and js are combined into one file. With Yslow this results in a much better score (although as explained in the ticket also, BlankTheme style sheets are not included yet).

  i you ve stil got problem of performance, you should really think to use lighttpd , it's a win of 30% on the server load and zikula is running fine on this server.

  And if you already use your own server, you can think of caching feeds, the startpage, the CSS files and everything else that is called often but does not chage every second via a proxy like squid or varnish, because whith them there are no calls for PHP & database
