  So I have started to pound through the module development tutorial and there is lots of nice stuff there (I certainly found it useful while learning), but some of it is outdated. I am working on updating that and I would like to hear from the community on the path I should take. The helloworld module tutorial claims the existence of a blank module that no longer exists in the Zikula downloads. I could solve this problem in several ways
  

  • *Find the old blank module and add a link to it.
    
  • *Create a new helloworld module just for the tutorial.
    
  • *Use one of the Example modules (Example, ExampleDB or ExampleObj) that are still in the Cozi
    

  
  And yes I did check out Module Studio. This is a great idea, but it is not ready for prime time use and that is fine. Writing something like that takes a ton of work.
  My preference right now is to provide a helloworld module that already has the stubs you need to work with Zikula and then walk people through creating the code they need to get it working. Any and all opinions welcome.

  That would be great indeed. Note sure if the blank module in Zikula isthe right one still, since IMO it serves as an empty module to have for example only some templates or just use blocks. But not sure.
  
  The example modules are usable, but contain so much comment, that you would have to cleanup some of that. I would indeed create a new module/tutorial with the basics in there.

  The best would be ExampleDB or ExampleObj, with HowToPnForms

  I think I have the blank module and example module at home. It took me about 3 weeks to hunt it down... I can zip it and send it to someone...
  
  They're nice because they have tons of comments though I'm not sure they're Zikula 1.1.1 up to date...

  Thanks for doing this. I got a chance to look through the code. I have not written modules using objects. I will at some point, but not right now. Is it still useful to have a tutorial that shows how to use the DBUtil classes, but not objets?
