Flakelist.org  Bottom

  • Here is a very simple but clean website using Zikula 1.1.1.

    http://www.flakelist.org

It is a custom theme (simple and easy to use) and is fully compliant with XHTML Strict 1.0 and CSS.

Pagesetter 6.3.0 is used for the database of "flakes" (I started with Pagemaster, but it still needs a little work -- we will probably move to Pagemaster later). The list of publications uses custom filters for search. The Fresh Flakes block on the homepage uses the block included with Pagesetter. The Flake-O-Meter is just a simple count of the publications that were approved. The submit form is heavily modified using a custom form layout XML file and tinkering with the CSS (although its not perfect, it's pretty close to what I had in mind).

A custom plugin was created for the Fresh Flakes block that inserts a random name if the submitter did not provide a name. The random names are quite insulting. icon_wink

EZComments 1.6 was used for comments on each of the publications. Akismet is used in conjunction with EZComments to prevent spam.

Dizkus 3.0 SVN is used for the forum, along with the phpbb3 theme developed by Mateo and Arthens (found here in the forums). The included block was used on the homepage to display latest posts only.

Content 3.0 is used for the "Get Blurb'd" and "Yo!" pages. They are fairly simple.

Pending Content was used to display "Waiting Flakes" on the homepage. You can't see that though, because you aren't an admin. icon_razz

sesitemap is used for search engine sitemaps.

Last month, we had over 190,000 hits. So far this month we've had nearly 220,000 hits.

Your comments, suggestions and questions are welcome and encouraged. icon_biggrin
  • I've scanned the whole site and I love the redesign. Didn't it look different a month or so ago?

    Anyways, it looks great!

    Suggestion:

Make the forum stuff inline, or split on the right and left so each post header isn't so big:

    # Userneame
    # Since: January 2009
    # last visit:
    # IM logo

    All on left..

I love the concept and will be using it when I post stuff to CL from now on. Excellent resource!
  • Generally speaking, the overall theme is about the same. I did add the right blocks on the homepage. The list itself changed dramatically when I added better filtering options. I also added @ images for the email addresses to avoid accusations of spam bots retrieving email addresses from the list.

Thanks for the comments! And now that you mention it, I agree that the forum post headers should be altered a bit.
  • Would you mind if I took a look at your Pagesetter DB structure and templates?

I am learning Pagesetter(trying) and think I can learn a few things from you.
  • You've got mail.
  • Very nice work! icon_wink

BTW, the Dizkus phpBB3 looks like that because it uses YAML classes like .subcolumns, .c25l, .c75r, the ones in charge of the grid used in the posts... anyways, if you can help us to remove the YAML dependency Wendell, it'll be really appreciated and included as default in Dizkus icon_wink

    Greetings

  • Ah, I see. I haven't delved in quite that far yet to see it. I will see what I can do, but it may take some time -- I suddenly have a lot of work on my plate (a good problem to have). icon_smile
  • (I am working on my Dizkus and ran across this thread.)It's nice looking Wendell.
