I made the thread title a little more general than necessary, so that others can put their own beginners' hints, and the documentation team can take advantage. As I assume we all HOPE that Zikula can be usable by non-programmers, I hope that people will post even very elementary stuff, as long as it isn't currently in the documentation (maybe whoever writes ZIKULA FOR DUMMIES can take advantage of this).
I have been fiddling with basic style information on my site; mainly fonts and font sizes. In doing so, I've found that using the Firefox browser with the Firebug plug-in is EXTREMELY useful. All I have to do is right-click the text I don't like, select "Inspect Element", and Firebug shows the full cascade leading to the element, crossing out values overridden down the cascade, so that I can find out exactly where to edit /style/style.css.
