problem with the zikula community website!!  Bottom

  • hey i havn't been able to connect here for days, after awhile i realized its just my browser. im using Firefox 3. for the last couple days it just says "connecting" at the bottom but never loads the page.

    now it says:

    Content Encoding Error

    The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression.

    i hate IE so does anyone know if theres like a plugin or anything i should add for FF to get on this website?
  • FF3 works fine for me. 3.0.5

    Go to View-> Character Encoding -> UTF-8

    or see what it is set on, and try a few different ones.

    NCM
  • There's a server-side encoding issue
    but i get that page when my request gets corrupted (packages lost or something like that)
    it's a network problem that affects the data integrity
    and firefox shows that screen...

  • I've been getting this on and off for a few days. Same in FF3.0.5 and IE7 (although different messages). I did email Drak, so he may be looking at it.
  • I wonder if this is in any way related to the error (Cannot load address - cannot decode raw data) one gets if one uses the first link in the footer of e-mail notifications of new posts to the Forum.

    Here is the URL for the e-mail notifying me of this post in this thread:

  • You get this when an error occurs and gzip is on - it's a "feature" of Zikula 1. Unfortunately the latest bout of downtime was part Xen issue and part database issue, combined you either couldn't get to zikula.org or if you did make it you got a content encoding error.

  • I'm currently using 1.1.2 on one of my sites and preparing for an upgrade to 1.2.1 when it comes out. Would it be safe to say that this issue has been resolved? I recently had to turn compression off due to reports from users about the content encoding error.
