Hi all I'm new with Zikula and I have a couple of questions I'm hoping someone can answer.
I can't seem to find a way to reorder my front page news articles, is there a way to manually set the order?
Also, is there another front page news mod I can use instead of the default news? I think when I was using PN years back there was a mod called "Pagesetter" It was easier to use than inserting HTML tags for doing my articles. Or maybe I'm just not using the Zikula software right?
Any help would be appreciated

Any reorder would have to be done at the code level, I'm pretty sure.
Pagesetter is still in wide use. It's zikula successor, pagemaster, is still in development but Pagesetter works in Zikula. You may indeed be better off customizing it for your needs.
Additionally, there is a development platform by Guite called modulestudio that, when released, will be very cool. You'll be able to pretty much build your own module through a GUI as I understand it. -

The order of News can only be time or storyid. News is normally ordered by releasing date
With the scribite (wysiwyg editor) module for Zikula you can easily format your articles in the way you like. No need for a special module for that.

Scribite works but it's by no means an efficient way to add items to News like a custom module could be.
It takes tons of work to get scribite functioning at a level that works for your needs. It's almost always better to use a custom module if you have the skills and time.
From a works out of the box (quickly), scribite is a better option though, and it doesn't even work out of the box. -

Thanks all. Thanks for the link Jaenos,
I remember on PN the older version I was able to change the story ID number, but here I have no option to, or am I missing something. I'm also on a Mac using firefox, I remember using a Mac on PN last time I was unable to see/do certain options. That the case here as well? -

Haha, I have both actually.
But prefer my Mac for video and art stuff, linking up of my iphone ipod etc, leaving my peecee's for running my CNC & plotter machinery, oh and for online games.
But, for the record I have gone through way too many PC repairs than Macs, maybe that's why you pay more for Mac. Buy the most expensive and only cry once. -

Yes, by ID or Date. If you want to reorder differently, you must recode it. -

You cannot "recode" the id easily (AFAIK you have to go to the dbase). News is not made in that way. I checked in PN 764, but there I do not see a way to change the StoryId either. The News module is meant for displaying News in the order the articles have been written
What exactly are you trying to achieve? What do you want to show? And why the change in ordering? These might help in choosing to stay with News or use another module.

As Erik says, to do this the News.userapi ("DB layer") must be modified to do this and well, we (as the News module maintainers) would like to know your requirements to see if news can fit your needs, and include that feature in further releases
