Image management for dummies  Bottom

  • While there's a couple of image management options already available, I think there's too much of a focus on being feature rich.

    Here's what I see a need for....
A simple image/media repository with no need for albums, tags or other stuff.
From a WYSIWYG editor, a use should be able to add an image to their document that already exists or add an image on the fly and have it inserted. As part of the insertion process, the image attributes (alignment, border, etc) should be set.
Other features might include automatically resizing the original image to a pre-determined size as well as creating a thumbnail and perhaps a medium sized version.

While this sounds like Mediashare could handle this, and it's what I currently use, but inserting the image is always a two step process. After you insert the image, you have to use another function to set the alignment, border, etc.

Many of the people that I create web sites for typically have a hard time grasping the two step process. Plus, Mediashare is a little more feature rich than what I usually need.
  • ExtendedFileManager Xinha plugin is what you want then,
have you seen it? i use it many times, and also the MediaAttach Xinha plugin for stuff that is desired to be reused in many sections.

  • I actually did take a look at ExtendedFileManager (thanks to the ease of Scribite), which is what prompted my post :)

Due to the ability level of most of the people that I deal with, they typically upload their original HUGE version of a photo, so I'd like the option of having the original resized, and the option of another size or two.
