  I enabled the short URL's (directory)without any .htaccess as this seems not to be needed.
  It works nicely for content type items but does not work properly for news items. Short URL's for news items look like 'http://192.168.16.11/index.php/News' but without the actual news item.
  Installation zikula 1.0.1 on ubuntu 7.10 serveur.
  sorry if this thing has been discussed before - I am on a very slow connection and cannot afford the time to read more than a few pages of the forums a time.

  Admin Panel -> News -> Settings -> Permalinks

  Thanks - that did it. For whatever reason I did not check the settings in the news module but verified only the creation of the permalink URL title.

  hello, i have set also this option as Arthens say (using the shorturls.directory.htaccess) but nothing to do, the result as you can see is here:

  If I remember correctly the file shorturls.directory.htaccess (renamed to .htaccess) it's needed only with the option Strip entry point from directory-based URLs: Yes

  That's pretty weird
  should work even if the Entry point is not stripped...
  
  do you have a theme called News?
  that can be a conflict with the News module
  because directory type URLs can work as /ThemeName/ModName/func/
  
  Also check the News shortURL configuration
  and try to customize the article link...

  The strip entry have solve the thing, it work fine now and i was sure that i had try out also this option:

  the print links are threated as others templates links from short_url, so i need to put in the template .html file a direct link to print and make it work without problems pointing correctly to the proper print/template page.
  There is a command line of code that can exclude for example print links to be threated from the short URL feature?
  It is possible to be solved ?

  the aboveis my error:
  problem was, i had delete in the templates folder, the print theme: so the error was coming up!
  I have re-upload the theme and regenerate the list in admin: all work as need now!
