Camp is canceled due to a family emergency. My mother is going into surgery tomorrow for a fractured neck vertebra. Her second major surgery in 6 months, as some may know she had to have a lobectomy in January due to lung cancer. Please keep her in your prayers -- I'll be leaving to go to Louisiana ASAP to be with my parents.

Fantastic Vanessa!
Any recommendations for a hotel? Is this taking place in a hotel or other facility, or maybe in your back yard? :) -

Hey Bronto - right now the plan is to have it at my house! I have a great basement and yard ;) with wifi so right now it will be at my house. Once I hit 15 people I have a couple backup venues I'll use. I'm working on getting information about hotels etc.
Denver is a good place to fly in to, especially for the Europeans because the exchange rate is so good (hint, hint) -- then Woodland Park about an hour away with a nice drive.
Here are resources not listed in any particular order. I'm calling each one to see if I can get any special rates so I'll keep you posted:

Frankfurt-Main/FRA to Denver International Airport,CO/DEN and back starts from roundabout 700 EUR - but thinking about the controls at the us-border (especially for journalists with a laptop) i'll prefer to wait for obama
anyway: great to see a camp besides germany - it will definitly be fun!

Being lucky with my dual US/Austrian citizenship, and having covered all my terroristic acts (most of them related to PN/Zikula abuse) quite well from the authorities so far, my travel situation would be much better than Andreas'.
However, unfortunately (hehe, fortunately) I will spend all September in the South Pacific region, so I wont make it to the "Rockie Zikula Camp". But I will definitely strive to attend the 2nd one - promised.
Greetings,
Chris

Awwww, would love to see you guys but definitely next year!
On Friday night I'm planning a trip to Cripple Creek - an old mining town about 18 miles away that has limited stakes gambling. :) So we should have a great time in addition this time of the year the leaves are starting to change on all the aspen trees so the fall color is beautiful! Not too cold, not too hot -- fall weather here is great. Leaving at 5:00 PM to get to Cripple Creek by 6:00pm.
Saturday night is barbecue night - then we'll roast marshmallows on the fire pit. So lots of fun and info for everyone.
Andreas, maybe you can attend or speak on things through an audio or video conference. Let me know if you're available.
Planning information: Colorado.com
Also want to recommend ExpressJet for good prices on flights to Colorado Springs. Example you can get a flight from San Diego to Colorado Springs 240RT.

So, what time do we need to be there on Friday in order to participate in the fun? Airline tickets have to be purchased, you know. -

Now I got that stupid song stuck in my head
"Up on Cripple Creek she sends me
If I spring a leak she mends me
I don't have to speak she defends me
A drunkard's dream if I ever did see one"
ARGH

"Creedence... I LOVE Creedence"
I thought the same thing, but the song references a place in Mississippi. -

According to Wikipedia, it's about the same one, but the story has a guy going back to Mississippi after being there or something like that, but we know how accurate Wikipedia can be. It's also, evidently, originally by "The Band"

I'm sorry to say the camp is going to have to be cancelled due to a family emergency. My mother is going into surgery tomorrow for a fractured neck vertebra. Her second major surgery in 6 months, as some may know she had to have a lobectomy in January due to lung cancer.
Again, I apologize for having to cancel the camp but we'll have to schedule it for next year.

Well, your Mom is definitely more important and there's no apology necessary. Family comes first. Take care and I hope everything works out. I will keep you and your Mom in my prayers. -

Thanks Wendell - I'm really freaked but have to stay strong for my parents. My dad is 83 so this is really hard on him too. This is her second fall - she fractured her pelvis just a few months ago.
