Hey!
I'm kind of new to the web building world. I'm working on a new website of mine.
The site will include several tutorials, both written and video, a forum, possible chat, and a file exchange (similar to this one http://www.simvision.net/svex.php).
Anyways, I've started looking for such scripts under PHP Nuke and Postnuke but am a little overwhelmed by it all.
Are there any scripts which allow me to do the following:
1. Create a site which can be viewed by anyone unregistered. However in order to download from the exchange, post on the forums, enter chat or download video tutorials (not hosted on the exchange but from an external link) the user must be registered into the site (not just the forums).
2. Create a file exchange (similar to the one posted) with sections for different files in which registered members can freely upload files to the server.
3. Limit video download link (hosted on rapidshare) to registered users and some videos to members who paid for the download.

Certainly Zikula can do the first two for you with existing modules. The rapidshare thing might require you to write a module (or beg, hire, or bribe someone to do it for you). With anything, it will take some time to learn the system and get things working the way you want. But Zikula would be a great choice for the following reasons:
1. It's solid code with a well-documented API.
2. There is a robust third-party development community, meaning that you're very likely to find a module or theme that will meet your needs.
3. There is a very active support community. We won't do the work for you, but we're always happy to point you in the right direction.
Anyway, welcome and good luck!

First off, thanks for the reply! :)
For the time being I can survive without the rapid share thing. My main concerns are the member registration and the file exchange. I feel a lot better now that you've confirmed them to be accomplished with existing modules.
I was wondering if you happen to know their names? I went through all 15 pages of modules, and even found some cool and interesting ones, but those specific two I couldn't find. Thanks!
