Hi,
I'm aware that there is GSOC project aimed at improving the search functionality of Zikula. This is something that I would *really* like to see. I'm not sure how the GSOC thing works, so I'm just wondering if there are definite plans to include site indexing, and if so in which version can I expect it? / Is it a long way off? / Is it worth me hacking around with my site to come up with some improvements in the meantime?
Thanks very much,
N

Dan can provide more information, as it's his GSoC project, however as his mentor I can tell you that yes it will include indexing, will respect permissions, may include 'items/pages in a category' and may include indexing of PDFs and other linked documents. You will also be able to index domains other than the Zikula site you are currently running, for example if we had a search module here we could index *.zikula.org rather than just community.zikula.org.
This is currently slated for Zikula 2, which is due in 8 months, but this depends both on the development of the GSoC project and how core development proceeds in this time.
