Nachtzeiten  Bottom

  • Hi

I installed a blog style site for my poems.
The site itself is in german but pretty much self explaining.

    http://www.nachtzeiten.de

The goal was a stylish, clean and easy site.
So far i am very satisfied with the result.

I also wanted to use as less modules and features as possible.

    Modules used:
    - content 2.1
    - Pages
    - EZComments
    - Eternizer

+ Akismet & Badbehaviour as spam protection

    The theme is imhotep.

The site layout is special in the way, that there is only one panel on the right site, which is nothing more as the block from content, listing the single poems. When you login (there is no need for others to login, so the whole user stuff is sensless here) with the link in the top
header line, you will see the "main menu" above it. Normal user never see it or other standard menus.

The site navigation is done with the buttons in the head.

The default home page shows no module, but the admin messages as intro text, which is also a small site user guide, and 2 blocks (right & right2), showing the latest comments and guestbook entries.

    Thats all.

There are only 3 main colors used in the whole site: black & white with alot gray, as the original imhotep theme comes with. And some purple, which is the some color as used in the header "blog" part. I used that for the links and the background for guestbook and comment entries.

I used the Pages module for the "system" like pages impressum and stuff. In that way content is really handling only the real content of the site.

I think i will add ShareThis too when i have a bit time.

ATM i must transfer more poems to the site.

  • Cool. Not my taste, but nice use of Zk.

Anywho: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_VARIABLE, expecting ',' or ';' in /var/www/web/html/modules/content/pnuser.php on line 102

  • @AmmoDump
I enabled ShareThis, the error message was from that.
Even changed the module names a bit, so the link above is now invalid.

Can anyone test ShareThis? I hope i have setup it right now.

Anyway: Not your taste means the layout and template, or?
Why you don't like it, if so?

I ask because i tried to make the template on purpose somewhat "neutral",
just to avoid any "i don't like it"... Hm, i failed, i fear. icon_smile

  • Hi,

Share this works. Tested it to my del.icio.us account.. I made a modified sharethis for Zk, using sprites. Let me see if I can locate it.

Oh, I do not care much for that theme. I have see the WP version of it before. Maybe too neutral or geometic, not sure. But don't try to please me. icon_biggrin

  • Hi,
nice. I like the idea of one simple menubar at the top very much. I also applied that to my track&field site in 0.764. Keeping it simple sound always good to me, there are already too many crowded sites out there icon_smile

I must agree with Dave on the design, I don't like every aspect of your design. You strive for subtlety, but you have rather "strong" gradients and a busy header bg image in there IMHO. Just my 2cents, so if you like the design, ignore my comments icon_wink
For example: this design on OSWD seems more clean and easier to the eye. This one is pure B&W and has a bg image as well, but is still easy to the eye IMHO.

  • Hmmm I like the design but the colours. IMHO the contrast is too strong.

    I like pink word "Blog"
  • H, my fear was no one liked the poems, now i am failing even with the template...
I will need some whiskey on the weekened.

Just a joke, thanks for the reply. icon_smile

What i want is a template as much friendly for reading as possible, but with a tweak. Black & White are perfect for the poems itself, i would never, ever add there "colors". But the user response, the guestbook and comments are colored, at last the parts where the user have something commented.

I said "no colors", but that not automatically means black & white. Just a neutral background.
Which is not to "warm" or "soft". Means i want avoid that "impressions" from the template
interact with the impressions you get when you read the poems. Sorry, i can hardly explain
    that right in english.

Thats the idea: purple = guestbook & comments from users/readers and neutral the content.

I like the 2nd example from espaan, i find the first one a bit to soft in font & colors.
Should i try to use that template and add the color trick too?

If you know any other writing related template please post it.
At last changing the template is the easiest part.

  • For most of us, we are indeed judging the book by the cover. In fact it may fit your content very well. Maybe if some of our German friends could comment, you may get a better response.

Content is part theme, for sure.
