  I am still having trouble assigning a news category tree to the content module. It appears that the global category list is the only one that works. It would appear content looks to the categories module to tell it what categories are because you can change global and it changes in content. However, no matter what assignments I make in the registry, it still looks at global.
  
  I thought this was fixed with 2.0 or am I just missing something?

  Is anyone else able to change the categories assigned to content?

  It works in Content (I just tried), but the registry is full of bugs, so it may be quite difficult to achieve the right setup. You should have:

  The page: index.php?module=Content&func=categories still shows the default categories though.
