The content that is displayed sing the news module appears to be ignoring paragraphs and other spacing by deafult. The only way I have found a workaround from using HTML in the news article is to use the scribite module.
I know I'm a noob, but surely this is a problem, isn't it?

News content ignoring paragraphs unless using scribite

Mmmmm
well, News module detects scribite and assign the HTML format automatically
if not installed/configured, you have to select between Plain text of HTML right?
do you see one selector for the home text and other for the main text?
do you use the "HTML" format there,
i'm afraid that if not, the "Plain text" option strip all the tags...
i'm not sure...
