Strategic Name Development created it but it now belongs to the Postnuke Software Foundation. You can download it in several formats here.
License? mmmh. I don't know. But if you build a fan site, nobody will sue you

There will be licensing terms developed to protect our trademark. Initially, there are guidelines in the Wiki, but there will be a more official terms document very shortly.

Quoted from the Wiki:
Quote
Zikula® Trademark Licensing
The PNSF encourages people to talk about Zikula, build your business around Zikula, and produce products to make life easier for Zikula developers and users. However, we do have a trademark we are obliged to protect. And a trademark gives the PNSF the exclusive right to use the term as the name of websites, services, businesses and products.
Although these rights are exclusively ours, we are happy to give people permission to use the name under specific circumstances. We are always looking for the right companies to enter into license agreements for the further commercialization of the Zikula trademark.
We've outlined the general policy below sharing with you when you can use the Zikula name without need of any specific permission from the Zikula Software Foundation:
You must make it clear you are not the PNSF or Zikula project and you do not represent either entities. One way to accomplish this is to put a disclaimer on your site noting you are not affiliated.
You may not incorporate the Zikula name or logo into the name or logo of your website, product, business or service.
You may use the Zikula name (but not the Zikula logo) in descriptions of your website, product, business or service to provide accurate information to the public about yourself.
You may not use the Zikula logo.
If you would like to use the Zikula name or logo for any other use, please contact the Zikula project and we'll discuss making it happen. We encourage you to contact us because we don't have objections to people using the name for their websites and businesses, we just want to review the use to make sure it is line with our brand.
Generally, we approve your use if you agree to a couple things, mainly: (1) our rights to the Zikula trademark are valid and superior to yours and (2) you'll take appropriate steps to make sure people don't confuse your website for ours.
In other words, it's not a big deal, and a short conversation (usually through email) should clear everything up. If you currently have a website using the Zikula name and have not gotten permission from us, let us know so we can review it.
Who should we contact if we want to create a website centered around 3rd party development for Zikula (using the zikula name as part of the URL)?
An email address? A phone number? A website form?\
Thanks! -

So who do we contact for my other question?
I was WHOISing yesterday and thought it was private. That must have been another one I looked at. It's nice to know that ZSF owns it. Perhaps something can be developed with it like I discussed a few months ago. Looking forward to it!
