Looking at the PostNuke roadmap at Trac, I noticed this statement:
Milestone: .8 final
Due in 15 hours (05/25/08)
Also:
Milestone: .9 MS1
Due in 6 months (11/25/08)
How true is the above (as of right now)? Is the expected release of .8 final still expected within 15 hours?

Not to seem negative or anything, but I recall 0.8 was originally to be released like 3 or 4 years ago.... so if this IS the case, then it will be a great day indeed. But I won't believe it until I see it. Not so much the part about 0.9, but more the part about 0.8 since everything was being re-written. -

It says 24 hrs when I look at it, and it very well could be ready by then.

We're waiting on resolving a couple of obscure security issues, and will be releasing .8 some time next week if all goes to plan. We're working up to some very big changes in the project as a whole, which will delay the release of .8 a few days. That gives us a little extra time to fix bugs and make sure we get everything right with the final release.
As for future development, we're still discussing our plans for .9, and things will start in earnest once .8 is out the door. I am pleased to say though that .9 is coming along nicely, and we're hoping that the Google summer of code projects will be incorporated into .9 as well. 6 months to a first MS would be good, but please don't take the statements on that page as real project plans just yet, we're still playing around with trac ahead of a full conversion.

.8 final is postponed a week. But be sure: I am pushing for the final release now - as the rest of us does. Maybe it sometimes seems as if we are having a good lazy time while you wait and wait - believe me: We want .8 ($NewName 1.0) more than everybody else.

Aha! The truth finally comes to the surface!
Really though, I've been excitedly awaiting 0.8 since I first understood PostNukes ideals and direction way back in 2003 and I'm good with the progress. 0.764 is a great product but for the older code and incomplete pnRendered core. If it takes another week or another month (I'll stop there) to ensure

Just to be clear, a 'change in the project' != 'change in the code' right?

The only code changes will be those required to rebrand the product. i.e. PostNuke to $NewName. This is actually almost complete already and sitting on my laptop ready to be committed to SVN.

Yes, actually I'm getting a good laugh out of it, in between revision sessions for my exams ;)
Next week, or possibly the week after depending on how our various interlocking sub projects come together. Not long though, that is guaranteed.

newname will certainly not be liked by everybody - but you can't please everybody. But it also certainly is better the notorious *nuke - And I already had a lot of nice ideas of what you can do with that name - it's far more flexible!
